Description

Short cut to Tomboco.
It is 125 km shorter then going via Mbanza Congo, so a nice short cut to make some fun with your 4x4.

Maps me doesn't show the right exit in the beginning coming from Congo. At the y-crossing on maps me, go right after the airport at the street lights. If you are not sure where to go right, ask the locals. They will help you.

There are only some small buts: you need some 4x4 experience to drive this route, don't mind that you probably get some small scratches on your car and get stuck when you drive during heavy rainfall. It takes around 7 hours from the start to the end. Including a few beautiful stops and lunch.

I drove this road today.
You need good off-road skills.
Don’t go there in rain season. Is already hard when it’s dry.
Be aware. There are no other cars. I only found one truck got stuck and I had to pull him out. So if you got stuck you have to wait a long time.
They are many swamp areas. Many little bridges you can’t even spot them. Your car will get scratched. Took me 10h to drive the road. Ended up driving the last part in the dark. Limited options to camp. I can highly recommend this track if you know what you are doing.
