Description

Knobs State Forest has a small parking lot that was unmonitored when I was there. You can hear interstate 65 from the parking lot. Otherwise very peaceful spot. No one bothered me. I camped in my car. Around 7:30 a.m. the next morning a park grounds worker approached me to say hi and that I was welcome to stay as long as I needed. Very kind man. Would car camp here again.
Strong cell signal, 4 bars Verizon.
best for vans or cars, parking lot is small/road is narrow.
some noise from highway, but not overbearing.

nice stay. The first parking lot is easy to find. To get to the second one, go a little over a half mile down the one lane gravel road. A short road branches off to the right and crosses a small stream then goes into the second parking lot. The steam was about 4" deep, no trouble for most cars. I stayed the night in a hammock about 100 yards from my vehicle. Saw no one.

Report Check-In

Got to the small parking lot after dark and left just before sunrise. Not much besides a lot, but was perfect for the night.

we stayed 2 nights and 1 day. we had no problem
All you have to do is park in the designated spaces.

Report Check-In

Stayed the night unbothered.

ignore the last 2 reviews
-the coords given were wrong, I fixed it.
-you can't park on the side of the road, only the parking lots. Pic provided as proof.

Other than that:
-strong cell signal.
-small lots, best for vans/cars
-close to highway, noise didn't bother me that much

Previous descriptions are accurate. We drove another mile or so to the end of the road and parked along side of the road for the night in a large truck camper. We could barely hear the freeway off in the distance. A couple of hunters in the area, no bother. Very good overnight. Beautiful area in the fall. Bernheim Arboretum is not tone missed.

Report Check-In

Pros:
* Easy access from I-65.
* Close to town.
* Well maintained grounds.
* Strong cell signal.

Cons:
* Considerable noise from interstate.
* Frequent traffic on the road & in the parking lot from hunters.
* No constant shade.

Side note: The main parking lot off Pioneer Dr. is pretty small, so unless you plan to pull your trailer in sideways and block the parking lot, this space is best suited for vans and small RVs. Safe travels all!
