Amazing spot by the river. The views are breathtaking. No reception at all (good to disconnect). It has a garbage bin and is very clean. The terrain is a little rugged. Plenty of grassy areas. You can find a flat spot for an RV or van.
Update: not free.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Directed here for free camping after the road to get to Camping Tamul is closed by guys working for the city (apparently) and only people with a guide are allowed to enter.
Anyhow went to La Playita to find a place to camp and there’s a girl there charging 30/person to enter. All good. They want more for camping, so we ask if we can see the property for 2 minutes first. You can’t see it from where they stop you and it looks like a dump.
Old guy comes over and immediately my girlfriend and I got bad vibes. He refused to let us look without paying. I told him we could leave the car, it’ll just be 2 minutes. They even told us it’s public property but they still charge haha.
We say there’s another place we may go if we don’t like it here. He was an a$*hole so we left for Campamiento Tiempo y Espacio. The owner Mueses is super nice with a great campground, and confirmed that they are weird about not letting anyone enter for any reason at Playita.
Worked out for the better. Really odd feeling at Playita. Definitely don’t recommend.
Report Check-InGorgeous spot. Wonderful swimming. We didn't see anything about paying, not sure what others are talking about. There is a big tree hanging over the road on the way in, high clearance rigs should make it under but otherwise can camp further from the river. There are bucket toilets but they are not in good shape.
Report Check-InVery helpful....Use coordinates that is provided in the previous post. Beautiful and peaceful place near Cascade Tamul and its free. Garbage cans provided.
Report Check-InOn Saturday We slept here and We could enjoy this place with others traveler. Amazing spot, safe and very quiet. The people is very kind. It's free. We couldn't visit Tamul waterfalls because is expensive the entry and no included camping so we came here. No signal for the telephone.
Report Check-InWhat a nice place! Nobody around to collect a camping fee, just a group of horses on the grasland. The turnoff from the main road is here: 21.832109, -99.14944
Report Check-Invery nice riverside camping. 25 per person and 150 pesos for a night for a car.

you can even park your camper on the island by crossing the river where it's not deep.
surprisingly no mosquitoes!
they asked 25 pp (less than 5 years old don't pay) and 150 for a tent : you pay one time and stay as much as you want.
we didn't pay for the camper(A big motorhome) but some friends had to pay.... so try to pay only per person!

Spent the night here. Very quite but super hot.
It costs 25pesos per person and 150 if you have a tent.
Free camping next to the river. We asked to the local people and they said that sleeping here by the river is really secure. And the Town too.
Report Check-InVery beautiful & very humid!! camping place down by the river. Big & tall rig friendly. Just be sure to leave it as pristine as you found it.
