Description

Awesome site. No facilities of any kind. Boulder City is a 15 minute drive up 95. If it rains a lot (pouring or over days), the bed will fill so make sure to keep an eye on the rain. During the week it is super quiet and during the weekends there will be other camps with large fires, dirt bikes, atvs and such. The wind can pick up a lot as well. Do not follow GPS coordinates just drive down 95 until you can pull into an ungated area in front of the solar farm. I do not recommend driving in at or after dark. There are ditches from people doing donuts in the mud that could really harm your vehicle. Very large area with plenty of space.

Good WiFi as of 5/2/2021. 3 bars Verizon

Definitely a lot of Ruts but easy to avoid or drive carefully over. Exposed bit. Dry erasure to get away from noise

use this pin for entrance. Google maps takes you to the official entrance but it can be a bit rough. especially with a longer or bigger rig. this pin is a nice even pitch off the highway

Cool spot on the dry lake bed. Tonnes of space. Like others said, be on the lookout for big piles of nails, but they are easy to be seen. A few people ripping around on their bikes having fun but everyone is pretty spread out so still kind of felt like you are in the middle of nowhere even with the road nearby. A little steep getting off the highway, but other than that, great spot for a stop. Pretty windy at times. But no issues.

great spot, would stay again. hot until sunset though.

Went there and decided on another location. Very exposed since you're right on top of the highway. Maybe the weird guy with the twirling torches was giving me the heebie jeebies. I'm sure it would have been fine but ended up heading a little further south off Nelson Road.

good spot, you can get far enough from the highway that it's quiet. good Google Fi coverage (which is t mobile network).
small word of warning... my dog ate something out here that gave her "THC toxicity" (fancy vet speak for super stoned). she lost coordination and was acting really weird. rushed her to the emergency vet in Las Vegas and he immediately knew what it was. apparently a lot of kids come out here to party and some must have lost their edible... and my dog ate it. probably a freak event but if your dog starts acting really weird out here, that might be what it is :/ :) once I knew what it was it was actually pretty funny, and she seems to have come through it without any long-term effects.

Take the extra time and drive down to the far west end. Plenty of spots that don't reqire you to drive out onto the lake bed.
Exit near the westen solar plant.

Ok spot for one night. Very exposed to the elements - pretty hot and windy when we were there. Not ideal if you're tailgating like us. As another overlander mentioned lots of nails waiting to take out a tire.

cool place, Locals people from Vegas made a party here. Friends and Neighbors. They call it Covidchela! So i crass the party.
Very nice people with a Band!
Nice weather this morning.
Just perfect. 5/5 until now.

big dry lake bed right off of highway 93/95. great if you like wind, dust, noise, ATVs. came past here late on a Saturday afternoon and it was very windy and Dusty, lots of ATVs tearing around. several vans camped out there as well. might be a good quiet place during the weekdays but I doubt I would stay here.

Decent spot for a night. Flat, fairly compact gravel. Lots of 4x4's doing donuts when I arrived so parked further down. I stayed close to road and didn't see any glass or metal.

Great spot, though we turned off the 95 early and just drove across the dry lakebed to get away from the highway noise. There were a few other vehicles camped in the distance, and we saw some trucks doing donuts, ATVs, and some people flying a drone but otherwise was very quiet and peaceful. As mentioned, lots of broken glass and rusty nails so be careful. Easy to do in any vehicle when it's dry but wouldn't recommend right after it rains even with 4WD.

Light pollution gives this place a surreal feeling, but very peaceful. Watched the distant traffic for a while.

I have 2wd- no loose sand or anything that I found. Just slow down, and drive into it carefully. There are some minor ruts.

Really great spot.

Great overall place to stay however, don’t arrive at night! There’s are a TON of piles of long rusty nails where people must of been burning old wood just waiting to pop your tires. You can see them during the day though.

Perfect place to stay for more than one night. Great cell phone coverage.

Very nice area to spend the night. I drove as far away in as I could and it was really quiet and peaceful. Can hardly hear the highway. Good cell reception! There was no one around. Beautiful sunrise and sunset!

Report Check-In

Huge flat pullout right off the highway. Could easily fit hundreds of rigs. As expected, it's a desert so very hot during the day. Cooled down during the night, the wind was very pleasant so it wasn't hot. There were 3 or 4 other rigs parked, but this place is huge so I couldn't tell how many exactly. If you want no highway noise, just drive further down towards the solar panels. We pulled in at around 1am (all other sites we tried were closed due to COVID and it tooks us 3 hours to find a decent spot), we didn't know what this place looks like and how big it is, so we didn't drive further down and parked a 100 meters from the highway. Even so, the noise was minimal and we were able to sleep very well. No 4wd necessary. Don't know what you would do here for more than one night since there is nothing around. I did see a lot of ATV tracks and recent donuts, other than that, it's good enough for a night's stay. Enter "Boulder city dry lake bed" into Google maps and it will take you there with no issues.
