Oh come on people. I think the first comment is pretty harsh. It's community land you are passing through and they are not compensated by the government in any way. That's how these tolls started out. Talk to the very friendly people holding the rope, interact, learn. Or hit the gas and be an ass, it's 10 pesos..

Happy to report there was no road block here when we passed through today!

Passed through today and this block wasn’t here. The road today from San Cristobal D L C to Palenque was free of any sort of road block or ‘toll’ from the zapatistas.

Right after the turn-off from the main road to Misol-Ha they have a small booth and pull up a rope.
I just kept up the speed and hardly slowed down so they lowered it before I hit it.
They are part of a different ejido and apparently have no affiliation with the people that operate Misol-Ha.
We talked to a Mexican couple who payed 25MXN/p as they thought this is the official booth.
It is really up to you how you want to handle this.
