if you are travelling with a motorhome, you are a rich person from the point of view of indigenous . So it's no question to pay for the work the people do for us. at this moment they make new pavements along the waterfalls

and if you travel through Mexico, you often pay for using the road, or (E.g. in the monarch butterflies area)

it's legal in my opinion.

It's the normal entrance to pay. The mexican tour buses pay, too.
There are two fees and now both are 40 pesos per person. One is the enterance and the other is the toll fee. The first gate will tell you there is a second one. You get on both gates official receipts, friendly staff.
On the first gate there were a bit intrusive kids to sell bananas and sweets but you can friendly refuse the purchase.

These two fees are the only ones you have to pay - you can stay for night. No one asks us for a camping fee, but other comments tell some days you are asked for 50pesos for camping. you sureley don't have to pay that! There are many restaurants&music but we had a nice night there and felt save. Dog friendly, in swimming area, too. Swimming is only allowed above the falls.

There was somewhere before the gate, a bit after you leave the 199, a rope block of a woman with children. They were selling sweet, fried flats and bananas. We bought some of the sweets, but they were friendly and I think, they would have let us through without buying something.

40mxnp per person. Not a scan in my opinion. Everyone pays. Then 40 again at the entrance of the falls

Tourist toll is now 40 per person and then another 40 per person to enter agua azul.

Worth the cost IMO.

I was riding directly behind a tourist police truck when I got to this stop. As mentioned, you get a ticket that looks just like the "official" one. Tourist buses also paid. Doesn't seem like a scam to me.

So... we were "scammed" although I'm wondering if this is not a scam after all. There were no ropes across the street but 3 people handing out paper stubs like you see them in other official places. 25pesos/p for road maintenance. The guy at the actual entrance station (40pesos/p) down the road confirmed this was legit which is different from what a previous poster has said.
If its a scam... let's hope it at least feeds a family.

There is a guy waiting 200m before this toll. You will see him using his walkietalkie so they will know when you arrive. We just drove slowly through them. The windows closed and do as if we didnt understand, no gracias. Didn't pay the scam toll.

We visited when it was raining and the falls were muddy, so there was no one at this "toll." However, the rope was laying across the road, so it looks like they're still at it when there are enough people passing through

Men still there trying to charge MXP25 p.p. for entry to Agua Azul, despite it not being an offical ticket or toll. They placed a cone in front of my motorcycle to try and block my path and were very persistent. Just pretended to not understand them and then continued on to pay at the official station a little down the road. They have people on the road with radios watching as you approach and they radio ahead to block your path. It’s a real shame they’re doing this.

Booth still in place with a big sign “caseta de cobro agua azul” trying time make it look official I guess. There was no rope to block us a few people shelter from the rain nearby (I guess that helped us!) we didn’t stop and paid our $40 pp fee at the official entrance.

Small, rundown building/check point in the middle of the road. No men or rope here - we arrived around 1900. Just came across the actually check point just up the road and paid 40 pp (skimped us 5 pesos in change, but meh)

Here some men put up a rope across the street and try to make it seem oficial that you have to pay 25MXN. This is not the oficial place to pay to enter Agua Azul. It is a scam way of begging. Please don't support this kind of lifestyle. Slowly drive through and go on your way without hesitation also when the rope is up, as we did.

At the oficial paybooth a couple of 100m further down which is 40MXN pp it was confirmed to us that the 'fee' they ask for is a scam.
