Latest Check-Ins

Free in the off season. You’ll drive through a burn scarred area to get here. On the road in, there are currently work crews clearing downed trees. I got through just fine, had to stop twice to wait for trucks to pass. Very pretty and peaceful. Besides me, only one car camper here. Two fisherman showed up this morning and boats on the water every now and then but otherwise you have the whole place to yourself. I don’t see any litter near my spot. Lots of room to spread out. Two bars visible/Verizon lte and works great for streaming and working.

Report Check-In

Free for the season and lots of space in the trees or in the open on the dry river bed. Close to the freeway but not very noisy. Can stay up to 14 days for free! We stayed one night while traveling i5

Report Check-In

currently open for the 2023 season, free till may 12th. then $15 per car. not alot of level spots, super muddy due to the rain so was a little sketchy getting here. great cell service

Report Check-In

About a half mile from the site, the road is closed off with a gate. There was no indication that it was going to be closed when we exited I-5. Turned around (glad we were in a van!) and tried the “other” side. Same deal. Closed with a gate. Possibly because of fire damage to the area, potential slides, etc. No way to tell why it was closed, or for how long. This was on 3/21/22.

Do not go here! unless the junkies and meth attics have been cleared out this place has been overrun with trash, used needles, soiled toilet paper, etc. when I arrived I was quickly harassed by a tweeker in a truck as he circled around me. I went to the tree line to escape the heat and then I saw an enormous pile of trash which included used needles, alcohol swabs, q-tips and caps. All the essentials for shooting up. I hope this place gets cleaned up as it was an amazing spot!

Report Check-In

Didn’t stay, fee was $15 per vehicle, cash or check in an envelope. We were looking for a free spot.

Report Check-In

Great open space to stay at ! The dogs loved running around. We stayed on a weeknight so there were only 3 other cars there. Road is a bit rocky - but we got through fine. Amazing cell service ! (AT&T) my husband and I both worked and it was smooth. Only thing I would caution is of course there a many little bugs flying around - we have a bug net so it kept majority of them from joining us in our van.

Report Check-In

Large area lake side with lots of sites some shaded, many not, fire rings made of stone, lovely views, no services, current signage indicates 2 weeks camping allowed (off-season)

Report Check-In

awesome location!! huge beach area with red sand and rocks. can be a little tricky to navigate over the bumps but definitely doable. we were here over a weekend in april and there were maybe 12 other vehicles but there’s so much space it felt like we had a lot of privacy. some noise from the highway. free to camp up to 14 days during the off season!

Report Check-In

Thank you iOverlander for this beautiful spot! The area was quiet with amazing views. There is plenty of space to park

Report Check-In

2nd year here! This spot is fantastic. The further in ya go the better!!!

Report Check-In

Awesome and huge, though probably can be quite crowded on weekends or higher season. We stayed for two nights and had between 1-5 neighbors over that time. There aren’t any trees out on the shore so privacy is a bit limited, but man it’s a cool place to be with the red dirt and blue water.
@boxwinepalace on ig.

Report Check-In

Wide open spaces with some tree coverage. Great for dogs. Good cell service @delicabalane

Report Check-In

Awesome location IN the lake.
The views here are amazing. A little noise from I-5 off in the distance, but this location is so worth the trip here. Super wild day road to get here, but so much room on the dry lake bed. Arrive in the daylight as there are some big wash out areas you want to avoid.

Report Check-In

Great spot for the night. You are close to the 5 freeway bridge so you hear some traffic at night.

Report Check-In

Wide open area. No bathrooms. Smooth larger sized river rocks but we were able to drive around the whole area in the van. Clean area, didn’t see any trash around.

We got in late last night so we pleasantly surprised with the view we woke up to.

Report Check-In

Amazing spot, I could only stay one night because of a timeline I had to stick to but am heading back next week because it was just spectacular. Quiet, great views, not many people because it’s off season here.

Report Check-In

love lake shasta! close to mountain and lots of hikes around

Report Check-In

Great location right by the lake! Little chilly but that is to be expected around this time. Right by freeway bridge so you can hear the highway but not too bad.
Felt safe staying here, lots of space... would highly recommend!

Spent single night. As stated from previous Overlander, follow the route on the OL map, not the Google's. You're camping IN the lake or what remains of it. Very moon like feeling when down low. Muddy at bottom. Recommend up top in pine trees. Better views. Pay station but sign says closed for winter and free to camp for up to 14 days. Five rigs spaced 200 yards apart. Place is huge. Picked up trash to keep it clean and free as long as possible. My star rating never works but it would be a four star.

Report Check-In

Awesome spot. Lots of flat ground out on the beach and in the trees. Water is warm for swimming 👌

Report Check-In

This place is great. Tons of open space for plenty of rigs. There’s a $12 a night fee to put in the dropbox. The guy came around and checked around 4 PM. Muddy coast line but other than that this place is wonderful for a few nights!!! Four-wheel-drive not necessaryEnjoy!!!

Report Check-In

Back a ways in the trees. Perfect view, arrived at 430. Still very warm walked around with no shoes. Lots of water

Report Check-In

Completely open. Areas to camp on the beach area. I chose to go back a ways In the trees. Dogs loved it. Pretty clean. Some trash from others. Saw few tents. About five rvs down by the water

If it rains you may need 4wd/awd, perhaps.
My Honda Element awd did wonderful.

Port o bathroom

Totally undersold this place with previous note. Leaving after 13 days. What a great spot!!!

Report Check-In

Spent a night here, 14 day limit. Great views, lots of campers and rigs here

Report Check-In

Nowhere flat to park but lots of space.
One or two spaces for big rigs
Ignore your Google maps and just follow the road down to the beach
