Catalina Wreck | Tourist Attraction

Cool and unique plane but not much left. For now you can only reach it via the east, coming from Gayal due to construction works. The coastal road coming from the north and the 392 road coming from the northeast are both closed.

Outside showers in the oblution block nearby. Not so suitable for women at the moment due to al the construction trucks passing by and stopping there.

We asked Coast Guard if it is possible to camp. They said it’s no problem and they have a look at us. Showers are good, but why it is a shower without any hide in Saudi?

We visited the wreck, interesting place to see. In the 1960’s a family traveled to this area with their seaplane. Unfortunatly the plane was shot after landing (you can still see many bulletholes) by the Saudi coastguard. Is has been lying here ever since. Good place to stay the night also at the little bay. Coastguard will stop by to check your ID. Best thing: there is a sanitary block with very clean showers (outside) and toilets. Shower is medium warm and not salty and available from 7 am to 7 pm.

Really cool place, a few 100 meters away is a really good toilet and showers if you want to swim. Strongly recommend a visit if you are in the area!

Got there today and although a bit out of the way, it is worth the extra effort.

very cool spot of the catalina wreck. Easy to get here. Border police will stop by to have a look at your ID.
