Very nice and welcoming people.

It’s a rehabilitation centre for sick animals and they breed donkeys to give to poor families.

They have many dogs, donkeys, horses, camels, cats, monkeys…

Not the quietest night but definitely an awesome stay.

What a beautiful place here. An amazing team is doing a really massive job with sick animals. You can stay here for free in exchange of some help in the daily tasks (feed the animals, clean the field, take the dogs out, ...). Animal friendly only. A really great experience with amazing Gambian people.

This is definitely our favourite place in Gambia! We were so heartly welcomed by the staff as well as by the animals. Everyone made it so easy for us to discover and understand their work and made us learn a lot. Helping hands and a little extra love for the animals are always appreciated. They really do incredible work there. It was great fun for us to take the dogs on a walk through the beautiful surroundings and explore the woods and river banks.

To reach the place it is nice to have a 4x4 during the rainy season, but is also possible without. Big rigs may have to cut some trees, depending on the season.

Association pour les animaux (chiens, chevaux, chats, ânes, chameaux, chèvres etc...) en lien avec les populations locales. Toutes les personnes qui y travaillent sont très gentiles et accueillantes. Seul petit problème, l'accès se fait par une piste. Il faut impérativement rester au milieu de la piste et éviter les véhicules hauts en raison des manguiers. Contactez l'associationavant de vous engagersur la piste si vous avez un doute ou besoin d'aide. Facile en 4x4, attention c'est plus compliqué pour les camions.

Cannot recommend this enough. The people here are incredibly hospitable and genuine, we spent an afternoon helping out in exchange for accommodation. Even if you don’t stay overnight, well worth seeing on your way up river. They have another establishment further up the Gambie from where you can see chimp, hippo and crocodiles, just ask for direction!

The GHDT is an organisation that cares for and nurses sick and injured animals (mainly horses and donkeys but also dogs and even camels) and educate the public about handling and treating of horses and donkeys as farming and transportation animals.
The staff is very welcoming and happy to give you a tour of the compound. The place is close to the river where you can have a sundowner and take a boat to see monkeys and collect oysters.

You can park here overnight, your help with the animals in return is greatly appreciated, even if you do not have experience as a vet or a nurse - but you must love animals!

There are baboons around so pitching a tent might not be the best option, however it is possible.

For staying in the house there is a charge for food, electricity and water of 15-20£.
