Description

*Camping is not permitted.

awesome spots, the road is fine to here but if you go about a mile past this point it starts to get really rocky and bad. there are around 5 more sites before that happens though and one huge dispersed area right off the highway at the entrance if you don't wanna go down this road at all. there's also a bike path nearby. First fast Verizon 3G then super slow LTE then nothing each for about 5min and on a loop so you will have reception that you can actually use 1/3 of the time. Portapotties and a dumpster present.

The days of camping within 10-15 minutes of flagstaff are coming to an end. All the surrounding areas including this location have a newly posted no camping sign. As per a newly signed city ordinance in May. Seems the locals do not appreciate seeing rigs in the area. Forest service sweeps the area every few days telling everyone to leave.

Report Check-In

spent a night here.; we did a few months back as well. I guess theres a new law that got into effect by locals complaining of rigs staying here. When we came back to Flagstaff this time around, we have noticed more deforestation for housing unfortunately.A forest ranger came by and told everyone that we had to leave and camping/sleeping is no longer available. They said theres one a few miles out. It may eventually come to the point where the spot they recommended us will be unavailable in a year from now. Bummer.

Closed to camping now. Signs posted. https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd1104836.pdf

Report Check-In

There are no camping signs at the entrance to the road! Seems like at the start of the season, May 1st, camping is not permitted in this area and is monitored by the forest service. It’s filled with trash so please leave no trace and help clean it up! We stayed here a week before the forest service showed up. Locals are coming in and telling us to leave as well.

Report Check-In

Stayed one night no issues. Second night, we got a knock from the forest service asking us to leave. Road is closed and there is no camping allowed (even though there are no signs stating that). You’d probably be fine for a night, they’ll just ask you to leave. Multiple other car campers were there with us and all got asked nicely to leave.

Report Check-In

was here for a few nights. good spots if you go further down. a lot of the first campsites seem like people have been living there for quite sometime. also homeless tents have taken a big spot. definitely would not recommend if it’ll rain, road gets rutted quickly.

Report Check-In

Road back open. Lots of people near the entrance, (some of which appear to be semi permanent camps). First 1/4 mile in is pretty bumpy/rocky,but smooths out a bit. plenty more spots if you head a couple miles in, very peaceful.

Report Check-In

temporarily closed sure to the pipeline fire. closed until August 20th, 2022

Report Check-In

Entrance road is closed for “fire hazard”

Report Check-In

Previous comments were very accurate. Went on a Wednesday and it was pretty full but we were able to find a spot easy with out going back to far. Very quiet other than people coming and going. Perfect distance from flagstaff. We like it when we can see the people around us so this was great for us. Had 1 bar of 5G on TMobile. Road was pretty rough! Big bumps so just go slow but my Outback did it just fine.

Report Check-In

Super crowded but beautiful place to camp. If you go a mile or 2 down the road there’s some more spread out, less packed sites. Spent 2 nights. Quiet and lovely

Report Check-In

Busy spot when you first pull in, but has several portapotties and a large dumpster.

Further down the road is a more remote spot thats perfect wooded area, more private.

Version has service but further down the road where it gets a bit bumpy, only one bar.

Report Check-In

Insanely popular on a Saturday. Probably 50 vans near the entrance. We drove back in the woods and still had some close neighbors. Quiet night's sleep though! And wake up to a pretty forest. No AT&T as mentioned.

Report Check-In

Stopped at this spot for 5 nights. Was a bit crowded right at the entrance, but if you keep going, you’ll be able to find a spot a little more secluded. It was pretty quiet throughout the day and can hear birds chirping in the morning 🙂 Great Verizon service and very close to town

Report Check-In

Seems to be the only dispersed camping currently open in this part of Coconino. Easy access off 180 with about a quarter mile of paved road and dirt road spurs that go off it where people park, as well as a larger group parking area to one side. Relatively spaced out so I felt privacy even though I could see many other vehicles. A short walk to a trailhead that has hikes and mountain biking trails into the Forest was a nice perk in the morning. And excellent Verizon service—3 to 4 bars LTE fairly consistently!

Report Check-In

All the service roads were closed but this one and others north of Flagstaff only had a small closed sign that you could drive around. It was late, we had tried a few forest roads south of town but they all had big closure gates. Saw an RV drive past the sign so we did the same and stayed one night near two other RVs and 1 van. Left around 7:45a. Didn’t get a knock. NO ATT SERVICE!

Report Check-In

Road is currently closed for the winter, stay toasty friends.

Report Check-In

Not far from Flag, good service, level spots in pretty ponderosa forest.

Report Check-In

I’m at a great spot at the end of the road here. It gets rocky but I have signal on Verizon and was able to hang my hammock.

Report Check-In

Many spaces to pull over for the night. A lot of trailers and cars parked. Tall pine trees and a cool breeze on a summer night.

Report Check-In

Great place to camp for the night. Lots of space between ‘sites’. Zero facilities. Quiet & free.

Report Check-In

Awesome spot in the pines! You definitely will not be alone out there! It seems to be a well known spot. Close to town and had Verizon service.

Report Check-In

Nice area, out of the wind. Tall pines but on the sparse side, still lovely!

Report Check-In

Pretty area, nothing fancy but quiet and out of the wind. Tall pines, not thick. Road is a tad rough in places but very passable in our 2wd van.

Report Check-In

Large area with multiple spots next to Fort Valley Trailhead. You can cam here 14 days. Flagstaff is 5 miles down the road. Humphreys Peak is your neighbor. Site just reopened yesterday April 2, 2021.

Report Check-In

I enjoyed this site! Like others have said - does get crowded & there does seem to be a lot of litter... Besides that - pretty site & good cell coverage too (Verizon, was able to hot spot & work no problem)

Report Check-In

a little trash, only a few other campers here last night but it was packed last week from what I heard and normally gets very busy on the weekends.

Report Check-In

Good wooded camp spots. Our dogs loved it here. The only downside is that our solar was having a hard time charging with all the shade and it was a bit chilly this time of year. The road was easy enough to travel on with our sprinter. Would recommend for a night or two and the sunlight might be better in the summer.

Report Check-In

great spot in the forest. got here late. full Verizon signal and quiet neighbors. there were a lot of open spots and as someone else said, 1 mile up the roads get a lot rougher.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot! Good Verizon signal. Only thing to complain about is all the trash and dog 💩. PEOPLE please clean up after yourself and your animals.

Report Check-In

Stayed in this area for 2 nights & really enjoyed it!

Report Check-In

Good signal with Sprint a little crowded when we got in at 730pm but looks like there was still plenty of spots.

Report Check-In

Really cool area just 10 mins or so out of Flag. When we first pulled in we saw a huge open area with a dozen or so campers and RVs.
There is an easy diet road that goes past a parking lot for hikers and bikers. The first night we stayed just pass this parking lot area and it was nice. The second night we drove back maybe 1/2 mile and the spots are super sweet. Sites every 100 yards or less with a really pretty Ponderosa Pine Forest surrounding the spots.
Great views of Humphreys Peak.
Great Verizon cell service.
One of our favorite spots.
open area.

Report Check-In

Great spot! Right out of town but feels very secluded. I’m on Verizon and have great internet.

Arrived at 10:20pm on a Friday and still saw multiple spots available!

Would recommend!!!

Report Check-In

Really great dispersed camp ground with dozens of available sites. Road is also very smooth and I can easy access it with my Honda Accord. Limit is 14 days and most campsites have a view of the San Francisco Peaks. Had decent cell service. No amenities.
