I 25, exit 56 (north of Walsenburg, CO), county road 102
Flat, open county. No amenities. Nothing marked.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
BLM up a dirt road. Wide open flat ground. The best area is at the end before private land marker. There was a fire ring and a long termer so I went back down the road and pulled off in some grass where I saw other tracks in front of a sign limited motor traffic. Some noise. Good ATT.
Report Check-InSpent the night here with no problems. Camp in the large pullout as soon as you cross Cattle guard. BLM land is marked with some posts. Not a large section of land, but had no issues. Low traffic on road, hwy noise not bad at all.
Report Check-InFirst time camping like this. It’s not too bad of a place. I’m the only one out here, so besides the hwy noise it’s very peaceful!
Report Check-InNice spot for a night. Some highway noise. I posted a screenshot of the BLM property boundaries to clarify one of the previous posts further. The arrow shown on the map is literally right after the cattle guard.
Report Check-Inthere were private property no trespassing signs at the gate 🤷♀️ I chose not to stay but others were there
Report Check-InGreat spot - maybe to help with law enforcement issues: Sherrie knocked on my window at dawn and it turns out only the first 2/10 of a mile from the cattle guard is BLM…after that it’s private property. Basically, once you reach an actual dirt lot on the left, you’ve gone too far. The coordinates are actually correct but having driven in at night I hadn’t seen any pull outs until another 1/10th of a mile and by then there were very small ‘no camping’ signs that I missed at night. Sheriff says this is happening a lot and the owner keeps calling them. Stick to right after the cattle guard basically. A van and myself (in a car) just moved down (maybe a hundred feet) and we’re good here.
Report Check-InSweet spot a little ways off the highway! Tent camped on the other side of a small hill that made us invisible from it. Super beautiful spot to wake up in!
Report Check-Inamazing spot. Stayed one night here and not a single vehicle drove by. woke up to bovines. I stayed 1/4 mile from the highway at a turnout to stay on blm land, right at the blm marker for 'no motorized vehicles' if going offroad.
Report Check-InBLM land. open grassland with great view of the mountains. the paved road is full of potholes. I recommend no driving in after dark.
Report Check-InGreat little spot close to I-25. Was headed to Great Sand Dunes Natl. Park but 160 was closed due to snowy conditions. Bailed to this spot for the night. 2-3 bars Verizon. Totally empty at this point. Plenty of room though! The dirt road was a mud fest in the snow but my Subie, Echo, floated along no problem.
Report Check-InWe stayed 2 nights. On the second night around 2 AM, someone drove by and yelled that we were on private property, not BLM. I checked the public land layer on gaiagps, and saw that was correct. The BLM ends about half a mile up the dry road from where the pavement ends.
Numerous cars drove by during the day both days we were here and no one stopped to ask us to move or leave. So just be careful you don’t go more than .5 mile from the pavement and you’ll be ok on the BLM land.
Really nice beautiful spot.
Report Check-InSecluded spot on BLM land. Only saw one other camper out there. Able to take a 2wd SUV out there with no problem. Woke up to a field full of cattle.
Report Check-InGreat boondocking location. Secluded and easy to get to. There was still some highway noise but my rig is a pop up truck camper.
Report Check-Innice spot off the highway, quiet and windy! there was only one other (abandoned?) trailer when we got here. good for a night, better than Walmart for sure. our 36" bus and hatchback made it here easily
Report Check-InGood boondocking option in an area with few options. Great cell signal. Extremely windy on the flat plain, lots of sand and dust in the air! We had to keep our extension closed and did not detach 5th wheel from pickup. Another rig had to tie it down with a strap. Very quiet in the cow field.
Report Check-InAwesome spot
I continued a little ways past the exact coordinates since that spot was taken and had awesome views of the mountains and nice birds singing first thing in the morning
A great middle spot right off I 25, Perfect for a single night. Thanks to whoever found it first.
We arrived well after dark, the road is a little rough and bumpy but worth it. Decent T-Mobile service, We didn't think the road traffic noise from the freeway was bad at all.
Report Check-InSolo car camping and this place is perfect. Bumpy access road, but quiet and peaceful place. One other RV here when I arrived.
Report Check-InNice little pull-off that can accommodate a couple of campers. There was one other camper here when we pulled in. Easy access, nice and quiet.

Report Check-InGood one night spot. On other car camper when we arrived around 9:30 pm.
Report Check-InOpen fields, two vans were already here when we came. Road was a bit rough for the sedan. Gorgeous setting. Two bars of service and LTE was neat. Saw some Lark Sparrows in the area. Felt like I was camping in the Windows XP background.
Report Check-InGreat spot, close to highway for easy access yet secluded. Wind was great to keep us cool. Great views as well.
Report Check-InSpent a night here with no issues. Great Verizon service, really windy.
Report Check-InGreat spot to sleep right off of I25. Road noise but great Verizon coverage lte 4bars.
Report Check-InMuch better than any parking lot. 3 bars LTE. Loud Fromm the interstate
Report Check-InI've checked this place out in the past. Some law enforcement is not aware this is BLM but it is and have argued with boondockers about it in the past, maybe now they are aware. The area is on the north side of the county road right at the turn and is a small area. Stay on the BLM land. I have attached a Campendium photo that shows the BLM land.
