Mabou Harbour, across the harbour from the lighthouse.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
CLOSED! Camping near the lighthouse is forbidden but after asking a fisherman, we were welcomed on the left hand side of the warf. Very quiet! We park by the boat ramp near the shore. And suddenly another fisherman came and yelled at us saying that camping was forbidden and that we had to go . Not a pleasant person. So our advice is do not go!
Report Check-InThe place is closed. The place belongs to the harbour even the sign is on the opposite. The people there sent us away. Pls. respect it.
Report Check-Innice spot right on the water. we saw the no camping sign by the lighthouse mentioned in other posts and parked on the opposite side of the lighthouse with three other overlanders. we stayed on a Thursday night and there was no fisherman activity Friday morning.
Report Check-InLarge gravel pad across the harbour from the lighthouse. There's a no camping sign on the lighthouse. Both a previous visitor and another visitor today were advised that this location is OK. Suggest parking on the far side of the pad to maintain easy access for fishermen servicing their boats along the harbour side of this area.
Report Check-InGreat place for a night. The fisherman were getting ready to head out, stopped by to say hi, very friendly. We parked on the grassy area near where the boats are parked by away from where they park and the active roadway used for them to get from the blue building to their boats. It looks like a new gravel road was recently built, so from the main road look for and follow the signs, NOT Google maps. the gravel road is loose and steep so some rigs may not want to park here. it was no problem for me in an AWD 23' RV.
Report Check-InThere is a new no camping sign at the wharf parking, but there were 2 other overnighters as well, and the locals were friendly. Boats went out early in the morning. Just be careful not to block the launch access.
Report Check-InA wonderful night here with the most amazing sunset.
It’s about a 5 k drive from town but totally worth it!
We caught 6 mackerel for lunch tomorrow.
There’s a big blue dumpster by the lighthouse but no toilets
Locals ask that you not park behind the lighthouse because it's a fire hazard. But we're welcome to park on the other lot across the small harbour from the lighthouse.
Report Check-InWe asked the fishermen if we could camp around past the blue building, past the lighthouse, they said Yes of course, no problem. It's a beautiful little spot to stay for the night.
