Description

By The Side Of A Large Reservoir Off The RP9. There are two entrances to this area the first with less space for camping. The second has a very large open grass area going down to the reservoir. Mainly frequented by fishermen there are a few fire pits established but most have rubbish strewn around them so best avoided. When here in peak season there were only two other couples in tents, plus a herd of horses and a number of cattle. Nice long cation with good views. When wet be careful as the tracks down to the lake can be quite boggy.

We had to pay 200 pesos (2 $) for two in a camper. Beautiful views but no facilities. The free spot wasn't reachable for us, the road that lead to the lake was too narrow for our Ford transit.

Beautiful place on a lake with lots of birds, cows and horses.
We had a very quiet night. We payed 300 pesos for 2 people with a van.

Private place by the lake. The men are not very friendly. He asks us 100 pesos per person and 200 for the tent. And few minutes after says we have to pay per hour… For a place without toilets and showers it’s very expensive!! We didn’t stay.

Pretty calm and relaxing place. We paid 160 pesos for two big heavy ricks and 3 people. No showers or toilets. Just a nice place in nature

Beautiful place! We spended new years here :) we got it for ourselves . On the 1/1 (holiday) many locals came to spend the day .
We payed 40pesos/person , nothing for the van.

Report Check-In

Same as below, surrounded by animals and of easy access. Very quiet at night.
Stipulated as private property but we could enter without issue. Some told us we might have to pay a very small fee, but we stayed until 11:00 am next day without issue at all.
Might be tricky to go on/off grass by rainy weather but totally worth the road between Jujuy and Salta.

Very very nice spot by the lake surrounded by cows, horses and a lot of birds. Sun till late and from the early morning.

Ótimo lugar para passar a noite!

Nice Place to close for on night.

Report Check-In

Very nice spot by the lake. We parked our van at the right after the entrance where the tables and fireplaces are. It seems to be private, but nobody asked or charged us. In the evening horses were around. In the morning we had a lot of curious cows inspecting our campervan. 😁 And there was a dog which had a wound and smelled really bad. But not dangerous. He slept under our van and protected us.

free camping spot if you just go a bit out of the fishermen club area (the encargado was nice and show me where to stay to not pay). fire places, a bit of garbage, but cleaning a bit the area before settling makes it much nicer and it takes almost no effort ;) Nice landscape, cows and horses around, locals come for the afternoon but almost everybody leaves at night. I was all alone but some guys just came and camp almost on my side, with loud music. so it killed the wild atmosphere and made me worry a bit (being a woman traveling alone and so on). afterwards locals told me that a bit more north is much quieter and safer.

Dique Campo Alegre. Nice landscape, cows, horses... Some garbage around. Some guy came by and charged 40 pesos per person because it is a private place he said.

Report Check-In

One of the nicest spot we spent a night in Argentina. Lot of animals and nice view. Police came in the evening and told us that it is forbidden to swim in the lake. But no problem to sleep here. There were some other people sleeping here. Highly recommended!

Beatiful place
Perfect for chilling and overnight.
Many sounds of animals -a little scare at night 😆-

Great place for one or more night! As mentionned a wide grassy area with picnic tables and firepits. We had a quiet night. In the morning we were surrounded by birds, horses, sheeps and a cute little dog.
We didn‘t have to pay anything.

Amazing place. Beautiful, quite and free. Just a couple of people when we are here late in may. No facilities. A must one in this route.

Report Check-In

We spent a quiet night here. Some fishermans are there untill late. The surface is mudy with rain.

Report Check-In

Great spot to reach directly from RN9 and next to the lake Dique Campo Alegre. Beautiful lake to swim, fish, etc, big grassy area with a lot of trees to give shadow, even some structure for picnic and fire pits. Surrounded by green hills it's an amazing place to stay some nights. At the weekend some locals come by but during the week super quiet and only some other overlanders. I imagine that during high season it can get busy or maybe even paid (on MapsMe it shows a campground in a close area) but right now in April all free.

We went to the first entrance as the second was charging $25 pesos pp. Quiet spot to spend the night with birds and horses nearby.

Report Check-In

CAUTION ! arriving at night in the rain the gentle gradient grassy track down to the Lago is the same colour as the pond weed on the Lago lucky I saw basura floating on the water

Great place on grass with fire pits at the lake with a great view.
Relaxing

Report Check-In

Nice quiet place with trees, lots of Grass and some cattle. We did not have to pay, entered a Bit northeast of the marked waypoint.
the fishermen said sleeping there is No Problem at all.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place, some road noise in the evening but quiet at night. A couple of picnick tables and firepits, not a lot of dead wood around so you best bring it. Indeed wild horses around and cows in the morning. A guy came to clean the property from rubbish and we had to pay 10p pp since the land is from a club.
