best trails ever!!
To access this campground you must actually enter the large caravan park gate. They will give you a free pass to drive through. You pop out the other side of the resort and continue a few kilometers to get to the reserve campground. We arrived at 16:00. in July and the office had closed at 15:40 and the gate was locked so we didn't stay but it looked beautiful.
Report Check-InNice
Enough place for camp big and hiking. Suggest park as far from the toilets as possible as the facility gets many many people using the shower and toilet that are not campers. There is a prominent sign that says for use of campers only but it means nothing apparently and is not enforced. Again do not camp near the toilets unless you enjoying hearing the abulutions being used with have a curtain as a door
Nice campsite, lovely views, great hikes. Excellent shower. Good pressure, nice and hot.
Big Rig Friendly
80R pppn (Pensioner R64).
Beautiful location. Rustic ablutions with hot showers. Sleeping Beauty Cave Hike was stunning but I only did that one as I twisted my ankles on my way down. 😫 Great Vodacom internet signal. R80 ppn.
Report Check-InRustic KZN campsite in a nice natural setting with great views to the surrounding mountains, but to really enjoy the mountain scenery you have to take some short hikes. Amenities: two toilets, two hot showers and kitchen sinks. Nice hiking trails start here. Our favourite is Sleeping Beauty Cave. 80 ZAR p.P. 3G MTN signal.
Report Check-InAs described by many before. A simple campsite with great views. Ablutions are basic but wonderful hot water and pressure. Apart from many walks there are some lovely granite rock pools about 500m from camp along the river.
Note: only the photo of of old land cruiser is at this site, others may be from the resort down the valley
Report Check-InAs described. Very simple ablutions (2 toilets & 2 showers total) but beautiful location. Paid 80pppn.
Report Check-InDon’t be confused by having to drive thru Gooderson Drakendberg Gardens Golf and spar resort to get to the Nature reserve, I made this mistake......
Report Check-InNice shade provided by big pine trees, ablutions are clean. The camp sites are R100 per person for unpowered and R150 per person for a powered stand. The mountain Views are breathtaking.
Report Check-InBeautiful campground! (The name of it is Hermit's Wood.) The main office of the Garden Castle reserve, next door to the campground, hands out photocopies of hiking route descriptions and maps. Price is now R80 per person.
Report Check-InNice Drakensberg campsite next to gum tree forest with simple but clean ablutions, hot water and braai stands. 150R for two (10€)
