Parking alongside Big Cottonwood Canyon Rd near the Donut Falls trailhead. Beautiful views of the mountains. Signs specifically say "Overnight parking allowed," no mention of needing a permit for one of the nearby campsites. Several other cars and a few vans parked here on a Friday night, but no partying / noise. Flush toilets and trash cans (inside the shelter for the toilets). Theres also a creek a few feet away where some people are fishing.
Be advised that the parking is literally alongside the road, a dozen feet or so away, and there's some traffic at night.
Not sure if overnight camping is also allowed at the smaller parking lot down the road to the south, nearer to the waterfall.
Two bars of Verizon LTE.
Signs say dogs are not allowed anywhere in the SLC watershed, including here.

This is for back country parking only, no car camping allowed and no tents outside of established camp sites within 1/2 mile of the road due to the watershed protections
Report Check-InI created the entry for this place, and about one minute after I tapped 'save' we got a knock from a police officer who said the penalty for overnighting is up to $650. Maybe the 'overnight parking allowed' signs are for people with permits for the nearby campsites.
