Something not right?

Description

Backpackers lodge with chalets, dorms and camping on outskirts of Maseru - far enough away to be comfortable and relatively quiet. M100 pppn camping overlooking lake and suburbs. Also acts as an activity centre incorporating canoeing and watersports as well as cultural visits. Not the most vibrant place but adequate, particularly if one has one's own transport.

Latest Check-Ins

Nothing changed. Still 100 rand pppn for camping.

Report Check-In

nice place overall. friendly staff, nice views over the dam, lovely plants around, decent distance from city centre by bicycle, safe area.
no toilet paper (unlucky maybe?), haven't tested showers yet but there should be warm water.

Report Check-In

delightful place with nice view over the nearby dam and friendly staff. Has a 30+ year history and lies

Report Check-In

Perfect location, spacious and plenty of room for big rigs. Clean ablutions with hot showers. You want to enter from the Airport Road.

Report Check-In

Nice leveled campsites overlooking the lake. Relatively quiet at night. Clean toilets and shower. Friendly staff. We used this spot for bordercrossing next day. R100 ppn.

Nice camping spot just outside of Maseru. we were the only campers here in our roof tent. 100ppn per person, didn't charge extra for the truck. lovely view of the lake.
No hot water, so brisk cold shower it was. Electric hook up, kind of, basically Africa style 3 pin plugs near each ppl lots, and a tap for water. unsure of drinkable so we filled our lifesaver.
peaceful night, friendly staff, no issues

There is a minor upgrade to the place compared to my last stay here in Dec 2018. Dorm rooms are more organized and clean. Perhaps its under new management as there were many cleaners and the place looks nicer. Dorm R180 pppn. Beautiful view of Maseru Lake.

Report Check-In

Still 100,- pppn + 100,- for caravans. Friendly security guards (24h). As said before not the most vibrant place. We had to stay here because we didn’t had any other option. Ok for a stopover.

Report Check-In

I stayed for lack of an alternative. Unpleasant place. Reception was closed because of weekend and I was not allowed to pay with the guard and he wouldn't let me leave without paying! In the end I did pay with the guard. Lots of loud people and music on the campground until about 20:00. They use the same space for day activities. Ablutions are okay but in need of maintenance. Hot water and good pressure though. Electricity on site but 1 plug is permanently in use for a big lamp, so check before you pick a spot. No water taps on the sites but with ablutions. It was freezing during the night, even more so then in Semonkong, which is a lot higher!
Paid 100 rand pppn for camping but dorm is 180 rand and with this cold probably a much better option, in hindsight. ;-)

Report Check-In

Grassy campsite above the lake. First ablution block without running water, but there was a second one that worked. Electricity only with 200 V. As said before, to expensive for families and for what they offer: 100 R ppn, 50 R per child.

Report Check-In

The place is correct but way to expensive ! A motorhome with two adults and three children, 300 rand !!!
We stayed just because we arrived late and had something to fix on our motorhome...
