Mexico
just waved us through. routine inspection
Update: be careful if you have a dog! They will say that the dog is not supposed to be in the front (it Gould be tied up in the back). They can also say that you were speeding (10 km/h is the max speed). In ny case, safest option is to star recording everything and to not handle your license or the Banjercito permit.
We don't have any photos of this place yet.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Going south/east today (Tuesday morning) towards Merida and I didn’t see cops and no one stopped us. I saw a police car but no police on sight.
Report Check-InNice guys. Very friendly. Searched the front of the car. 🚗 Nothing else and we could continue our drive
Report Check-InOfficers sitting next to the road and looking at cars, but didn’t stop us.
Report Check-Injust asking if we are tourists and where we want to go. friendly officer
Report Check-InHeading towards Veracruz. Just asked us where we were from and where we were coming from. Very friendly.
Report Check-InHeading towards Villahermosa on a Friday around noon.
They were just checking bigger trucks, not even looking at us. Seems all really official.
Drive right through, no stops. No one even looked at us. Headed towards Mérida. Seems to be more concerned with other direction and/or the truckers, checking their loads
Report Check-InNo one stopped us in direction. of Ciudad del Carmen. they were just waiting and eating at 7pm
Report Check-InWe did see one guy in uniform who didn't even look at us. Drove right through.
Report Check-InDidn't read any of these warnings beforehand, but it seems we were very fortunate. Our van was pulled for inspection, but the officers were all very friendly today. We were definitely doing more than 10km while coming in but they didn't mention it. My husband gave them his real license (I know, we'll do better next time) but they returned it no problem. Searched my backpack and did a visual scan of the van but didn't even open any cupboards. Our dog just happened to be tied up in the back, so no issues there. One officer picked up a pellet of my cat's litter and looked like he thought it was drugs, but I explained and he believed me without verification. Thankfully it sounds like we got lucky today.
Report Check-Inonly asked where we are coming from and where we are going to. also asked what we transport. simply answered it is a casa rodante - so transporting our home. no Problem at all
Report Check-Intold us to go throught, no inspection, guardia nacional and militar trucks around
Report Check-Inwe were all prepared with all of our paperwork ready and our dog in a crate, but we cruised right through at almost 1pm and nobody even glanced at us... maybe it was lunch time?
Report Check-Inwanted to see driver license but been friendly. normal police who is doing there job. 5minutes no more
Report Check-InJust went through this checkpoint. Police stopped us saying that we were speeding (10 km/h max speed according to them) and that our dog was not supposed to be in the front. Unluckily for us, we didn’t read these reviews and they got us. They argued that they had to send out drivers license back to Campeche., but since we were in a rush they could do us the “favor” or accepting a payment right there. We had to pay 1000 MXP for them to let us go
Report Check-InPolicia estatal pulled us over, we said we didnt speak spanish, they asked for our drivers licenses so gave them our copies + international driver's license. they asked for the insurance documents and verified the car VIN number. silence for 5 min then gave us our documents back and let us go. didnt look into the van or if the dog had a leash (although we had already tied him down)
Report Check-InStopped us for an inspection and then our dog sat up on the seat and he said we would need to pay a fine. We spoke about the situation, how no one expressed this was illegal at borders and that he is trained to sit up here without being a distraction. We declined to give our license and said we would have to speak to the consulate to verify. He told us to transfer him to the back in a cage or tied down, and let us go with a warning.
Report Check-InWaved us to pull over, said we were speeding in a 20km zone. Showed us the photo of infraction with fine of $2300mxp. Spoke only in English and said we knew absolutely no Spanish (although we do). This has worked at other checkpoints/with corrupt cops so far. Checked drivers license and when we were asked for paperwork, pointed at our TIP sticker on window. About 5 min of silence and patience with officer staring us down, he let us go.
Report Check-InWaved through the inspection, police pulled us over, asked for ID and accused us of speeding 30minutes back and had been reported by another officer(we know for a fact we weren’t speeding and passed by no police during the past 1 hour) they told us we had to pay 1500peso to go. We told them we have no money but if they gave us the ticket we would gladly pay at a police station after we go to a bank. (We always stash our money away from our wallets) They then asked what we had on us for money, we repeated none. Then he askedfor 150 peso, told them we didn’t have any money We showed them our little bag full of coins on the center console and said he could have that. After about 20minutes they gave our ID back and let us go and we paid nothing.
Report Check-InWaved through at first by the checkpoint officer, then waved to pull over by the police. Started filming (based on other posts), they asked where we are going and for our passports. We mentioned we had a dog in the back (we made sure to secure him based on previous posts), they did not ask to see inside. They definitely saw we were filming, that might have helped us from having to pay anything...
Report Check-InWe were told we were speeding and shown a picture on the phone saying we needed to pay $2900mx we showed him the wallet with $200mx in it and asked if he took credit card. he laughed and took the $200. don't think we were speeding but who knows, they probably don't know and were happy with getting money in their pocket. make sure to drive slow and be ready for corrupt cops!
Report Check-InHey guys be careful here and make sure that you keep the speed limits on the BRIDGES!!! There were Corrupted policemen today and charged us for speeding. Of course they didn’t have any photo or proof.
Report Check-InNo control, just people vending stuff. Passed in the back of a truck, hitchhiking
Report Check-InPassed at 5pm . Just asked how we were . We said good . He said Adios .
Report Check-InHeading from Campeche towards Villahermosa at 1545, one federal officer only, we waved at one another and carried on.
Report Check-InStopped us and checked our camper, super friendly, asked for some change of our home countries (Spain and Argentina), gave them some coins we had in the truck. Then our truck wouldn’t start, helped us out for half and hour until our car started thanks to their help. Helped us jump start it, but it didn’t work, gave us a hand giving the starter solenoids a few hits, but it ended up just being that the screw connecting the battery was loose. Took a picture with them and gave them 5 bucks for their help and went our way. Overall a good experience.
Report Check-InPulled us over, asked to see ID and registration. Officer looked in through the door. Checked side pockets of door, had driver get out and open the rear door to the van. Saw our dog, did not care about it being a service animal. Tried to charge us 1500 pesos. Down to 1000 to 600. We had 500 and were able to get through with giving him 500 pesos. He told us she needed to be in a crate to cross Campeche. We asked if we could go around Campeche and he said we would still have to pay a fee because we crossed the border. Either way, he wasn’t letting us go without paying something.
Report Check-Inlicence check, quick search of car. looking for drugs and firearms. was quick and then waved on.
Report Check-InWaved us through towards Campeche, no problems. Did not need to show ID.
Report Check-InThey saw that we have a dog and showed us an extract of law on his phone and said that it was an infraction to drive with a dog not in cage. Wanted to made us pay 2900$mp at the city we passed a few kilometers before, they offered to pay 50% less if we pay cash on the spot. We explained our good faith and held our ground. Give him all the paperwork for the dog, we had to restrain the dog at the back of the van. Finally.. He let us go without paying anything. I had the paper for corrupt police officer in my hand just to show him we were prepared. If you have a dog in Campeche, maybe its a good idea to attach him in the back before the checkpoint!
Report Check-InOdd checkpoint, but harmless! The guy wanted to know why I wasn't traveling with a boyfriend, and then asked if he could be my boyfriend and accompany me to Cancun, and he would provide me with great security. This conversation went on for a surprisingly long time, with lots of laughs from me, him, and all the other guys standing around. As I finally drove away, he yelled "I love you" after me. (-;
Report Check-Infriendly guys. wanted to see liscense and a short inspection. no problem
Report Check-InPolice just asked us our nationality and our destination. Nothing more.
Report Check-InWe were asked to show our licenses and then waved through.
