Description

Large dispersed camping site on NF-48 high up on the mountain. View of Mt. Rainier through the trees. Room for a large Class C and/or a medium trailer. Seldom-used forest road, very quiet. Gravel road is slightly washboarded 20-25MPH the whole way in our Class C, watch out for 5-6 large potholes en route.

Make sure you take NF-48 to get here. Google Maps took us to NF-21 off US 12, but the connector from there to NF-48 is gated and locked.

Smell of burnt wood due to a recent small fire here, will probably clear after a few rains.

Strong Verizon signal - 3 bars.

beautiful spot :) fit my promaster w motorcycle on front. only about 3 cars drove by i’m assuming the other campsites ahead of this one were full since the last truck came back down. honestly two vans could fit in this space comfortably always pack out what you pack in pls

Loved this spot. The sites up the mountain with the clear view of Rainier felt a little too exposed or on the road, so we opted for this spot because we felt more tucked in and we still had a view of rainier through the trees. Passed one car driving out on our way in and one more car drove by in the early evening but no others. Super peaceful and quiet.

as described. really level, nice spot. roads open to here as of today. senior up higher (was aiming for the higher spot with better views).

Chill place! Although I was only able to spend one night because I needed to go into the sun to charge my solar.
Good AT&T service. Amazing view!

As described. Very quiet and peaceful, only one car came by. Lots of mosquitos tho.

Peaceful spot to spend the night. Beautiful views, no traffic, and a fun space for kids to play and build forts. Great service on both ATT and T-Mobile.

I would say the view of Rainer was more than slight. We were able to set up a 6 person tent with plenty of room. It is right off the road so not completely secluded. The mosquitos were also savage, bug spray did little to help.

pull out off road. trees across main road driving up, so pop up camper only.

Little big of a wash board gravel road. Site I have you could back a trailer into ( not a big one). Can catch glimpses of mt Ranier but drive or walk further up road and get a great vies of mt Ranier. Holiday weekend so lots traffic but not too much. Would definitely stay here again. And agree head into town and get coffee and a pastry at the mt Goat.

Nice quiet spot next to the road. Fit our 23’ travel trailer without problems. Came up NF-48…couple of potholes but no problems at all. There are pull out spots all along the road.

We slept hear one night after exploring Mt. Rainier. We got gas in Packwood, OR and then headed up the Forest road to find a spot. This was an excellent road to drive one.
It had rained the day before and it was in great shape to drive on. We passed the first two Overlander spots even though they were empty. I would say it was probably 15-20min up the road. It was a larger pullout to fit our truck. We could see Mt. Rainier through the trees as the sun was setting. Not a single car drove by in the night. In the morning a truck pulling a horse trailer zoomed by. Very quite spot. Had Verizon cell service. In the morning we got coffee from The Mountain Goat coffee Roaster & Bakery in Town!

Decent spot for a night. Nice quiet road. Only saw a handful of vehicles pass by while I was here. The spot is just big enough for two vans or a small RV. Great ATT cell service and 2 bars Verizon.
