Description

Big trailhead parking lot with no 'no..'-signs. Very quiet at night, but gets busy early in the morning as it's a popular trail for walking and biking. I used the Google Maps link here, and it took me to an intersection maybe half a mile away from the actual parking lot.

No issues here last night. Arrived before sundown and the parking lot was still 1/4 full but everyone was on their way out. Another rig arrived well after dark and stayed the night; I’m not aware of anyone patrolling as no one bothered me. Flat, quiet, good service (3bars VZN LTE) and easy access to a beautiful morning walk.

Parking lot for the trail. Spent the night here. No problems. Quiet. T-Mobile cell service, 3 bars.

Very busy daytime holiday. 3 pit toilets. Lots of sun to charge my solar. Friendly & welcoming. I will spend a few nights here regroup & rest

Parking lot at the rail trail. Quite large with 3 clean portable toilets. I stayed for 2 nights. It was very quiet. Two other campervans were there as well. Gets busy in the morning and there are folks coming and going into the evening. The linear trail is beautiful 20 miles round trip.

Super-quiet at night with plenty of room for mid-sized rigs. It is a busy trailhead but no one bothered me. Great spot!

Report Check-In

Quiet, but very faint road noise can be heard.

Great location! Very quiet night. There was one other vanlifer parked in the lot with us. We parked on the far side from the entrance to the parking lot. There was 3 porta potties which were all in excellent condition.

As described! This was a great trailhead parking spot - spacious & felt safe & had cell signal. I arrived in the afternoon & did see a few police cars bop around, but they didn’t say anything to me… The trail itself is great too. Had a good quiet night & would totally stay here again!

Stayed here one night and it was enjoyable. Definitely gets busy in the morning as it seems like a popular spot. We had service which was nice, the porta potties were not so nice but they are there. A cop came through the evening as we happened to be outside and we asked if overnight parking was permitted and he said Yes as far as her knew. Would definitely go back.

Around 8:30pm, a policewoman said I could not camp overnight, that the park rangers would kick me out if I stayed. She suggested Lake Onteora instead.

Lovely spot just off of the highway. I parked my van for the night around dusk and a Class B did the same shortly after.

At 1:00 the local police knocked and informed me that overnight parking is prohibited and that I would need to move immediately (after they ran my plates). They suggested I park at a public lot in town, across the street from the Harley Davidson store. The Class B joined me at that spot for the rest of the night and I wasn’t disturbed again after moving.

Great parking area at the trailhead for a night. Cops routinely come by, possibly on a schedule, but they do not seem to care about self contained overnight campers. I pulled up around 7:30 in a promaster, and a cop was parked by the portopotties which I promptly used, and when I left he was gone. Not bothered by the cop I saw at 11 am either. Great winter overnight option as the parking lot melts snow quickly.

Spent the night in a RTT. Not too far from the main road, and still fairly quiet. Cop drove through the parking lot at about 1a, but didn't stop or say anything. A few people came pretty early to hike the trail, didn't bother us. We left at about 730-8a. They have porta potties, but they also have, you know... trees. 😉🚙🏕️
