Latest Check-Ins

Just another mid week arrival in the white mountains. Tried Gale River Loop, filled up at 9 o’clock in the morning on Thursday. No sweat there is always Haystack Road and Jefferson. Haystack Road had an empty spot, I took it. Unlike other comments, it’s not a dry spot. I’m on site three and there is a small stream about 50 yards behind the site. nice and quiet for the most part, but as we get closer to the weekend, more and more cars were going back-and-forth, looking for the free sites! All in all, nice place, left my tent up, so I can roam around during the day with the dog, and do some more hiking. Not a bad spot. Nobody bothering me, peaceful.

Found this spot when googling for free campsites. It is a free campsite with limited 11 spots and we got lucky as the last one was free. Had a great time, very quiet, hicking not too far from site. I highly recommend this spot. When you leave, make sure it is cleaner than when you arrived.

Great spot. Very level and good size for truck camping. Nice fire pit. Running water across road. Very private sites. Noticeable road noise but not bad. Definitely recommend area.

Report Check-In

Good spot. 1 bar spotty service for Verizon on spot 2. Get there early if you want a spot. Hocking at the end of the road. A lot of bugs, fire ring at each pullout

Report Check-In

Spot #7 has enough space for a minivan or a smaller sized rig and a tent. Fire pit. Not much tree shading you from the road but the only people I see driving on it are other campers. Sites nicely spaced out. Checked in at 4 on a Tuesday and I found several (smaller) spots available.

Report Check-In

Great “off the beaten path” spot. Great spacing between sites. Unfortunately did get a site but slept in a pull off and wasn’t bothered (arrived late/ left early).

Report Check-In

Great free natl forest sites. Some are pretty large for multiple tents or vans/small RVs. Area fills up super quickly on the weekends. Tons of hiking nearby.

Report Check-In

Closed for winter road blocked by gate...........

Report Check-In

Road closed/gated (apparently for the winter) and covered in snow.

Report Check-In

Stayed the night. Clean quiet site with Firepit. Can’t wait to visit again!

Report Check-In

stayed six nights it was quite every night, really good distance between sites.

Report Check-In

As noted this campsite area is free. Small to medium sized sites. Didn’t spend the night but stopped to check it out. I would definitely stay if I’m back in this area. Sites appear pretty level and they are spaced out enough.

Report Check-In

Still checks. Beautiful spot along creek. Spot 5. Limited cell service.
