Excellent beach. The area has a vacation vibe with many beach houses around. The beach filled up during the day (spring break week) but there were only a few campers at night. There was even an ice cream truck driving the beach several times throughout the day. We read some reviews about bad mosquitoes here but we never saw one bug. It’s amazing that camping is allowed right on the beach and it’s free. There are trash cans too.

Park directly on the beach
beautiful calm and safe , very good place for boondocking

Report Check-In

It was a nice place to spend the night, we parked on the beach side of the beach heading northbound from the entrance, staying close enough to the beach that we are on the hardback. The beach is very firm, and I never felt worried about getting stuck in the sand in our 2x Dodge Ram. We had very few mosquitoes, although a few flies, but not sure how many of those were just left over from the last beach! I didn't see porta potties anywhere and trash cans were only near the entrances. I'm driving north on the beach now and it is firm and hardpack

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot. One of the best I’ve found so far. Definitely worth a visit. Spoke to a park ranger since I saw one. Confirmed 14 day free camping. So amazing.

Report Check-In

wide beach, hard sand. plenty of space. watch the tide.
we did have one guy next to us setting off fireworks, pieces of which landed all on top of our rig.

Report Check-In

Great spot but damn the mosquitos are INTENSE! Swarm on you as soon as you step foot outside.

Report Check-In

Free camping for 14 days. No permit required. Hard packed sand. Pretty flat for the most part if you’re in an rv. There are trash barrels spread out and random portopotties. However, if you make the quick 2 mile trip south to Stahlman Park, there are 24/7 free restrooms and outdoor cold showers on the ground level pass the picnic tables. Cheers.

Report Check-In

Coordinates take you right to very flat, easy beach access. Most sand is well packed and doesn’t need 4wd, saw lots of small 2wd cars driving. Very pretty spot other than a decent amount of trash. Also a truck with about a dozen political flags drove back and forth all day both days we were there, staring at everyone. No services besides trash. Most nights there were 5-7 other rigs. We had no problems with our 24ft travel trailer. 1-2 bars t mobile.

Report Check-In

Pretty nice! Not sure exactly where the free camping is. We're set up just north of the stretch of beach with Porta-Poopers - a short walk to the last one. That stretch is signed Permit Required. I think we're ok here with the other overnighters.

This Surfside Beach and the other Surfside Beach on here are actually the Public Access Beach just up the coast from Surfside. Don't think camping is allowed on the actual Surfside Beach - and parking by permit only.

Report Check-In

We camped here overnight in our slide-in truck camper. It was windy enough that it was comfortable sleeping with the windows open. We arrived on a Friday night just after sunset. Folks were driving the beach in cars with loud stereos until 2:30am. It is nice being able to camp right on the beach, and the sand is well packed. I also liked not having to deal with the Galveston traffic. We will probably come back, but we might look farther east next time.

Report Check-In

Stayed there one night. It was absolutely beautiful. People are there, but as it gets later people leave. No disruptions, very quiet at night.

Report Check-In

Free camping on the beach. Very lot of space. No trouble during the night, safe, quiet and very beautiful view on the sea. Pit toilet. ok with a 2wd.

free, beautiful beach camping, right on the Gulf.

Report Check-In

Drive right onto Beach FREE Camping Not limited on stay or days. Very enjoyable on these days with hardly any people on the Beach. Very Windy at times. Morning sunrise.

Report Check-In

Very nice beach, some other campers stayed here and it’s free! Don’t worry about the tides as the beach is very large. It is packed sand and no problem for a 2WD! Very peaceful in the night. The road from Galveston is gorgeous after the bridge!

Report Check-In

Easy access for any kind of vehicle. The beach is very wide and shallow and there are very little dunes so the sand is well packed everywhere and no loose sand drifting up. We got our 44' 5th wheel in here with no problems. Based on experience with much more loose dry sand down on Padre Island we should have no trouble getting out either.

A constable drove by yesterday and took down our plate numbers. I presume this is to enable enforcement of the 14 day limit in this area.

I called a couple of the RV parks in town. They will let you dump waste tanks and fill with fresh water for $10-$15.

It's a great location.

Report Check-In

Incredible! Plenty of space for all. Everyone is very respectful. Lots of Overlanders of all shapes and sizes here - people even tow their larger sized camper trailers down to the beach. Dog friendly and clean. Special place!

Report Check-In

As described, hard compact sand, can walk out pretty far. Verizon 2bars LTE. Would definitely stay here again! Be aware of mosquitos though

Report Check-In

super dope, right on the beach, everything said is true

Report Check-In

Easy to drive on, not crowded in mid week. Free accès, clean toilets. Staying 2 nights

Report Check-In

Super easy to drive on. So much so that all afternoon there was car after car with blaring music driving by. I couldn’t take it anymore so I packed up after a few hours. I recommend coming in late during this time of year. Beach was super packed.

Report Check-In

we loved this spot! always dreamed of camping on the beach front.

pros: eight on the beach! we got our 24 ft rv here no problem. the road is very packed and hard. you can pull of anywhere and stay. don't worry about the high tide at night. we stayed here while it was raining all night and the water never even reached the road. so don't worry! just enjoy yourself

cons: a little rowdy and packed! but no problem.

Report Check-In

Great spot right on the beach. Our truck is a converted shuttle bus - 5 tons- and sand was fine for driving (I was worried about the sans before we arrived). If you come from Galveston, there is a $2 toll to get over the bridge from Galveston Island to the island with Surfside. Lots of other RVs and some traffic but the only sound you could really hear was the ocean.

Report Check-In

Great spot for Boondocking, bring water and dump your tanks before arriving. No services are available nearby. Great TV and internet reception.

Report Check-In

Public beach that has very packed sand to drive on. Stayed for 3 nights, sheriff drove by and waved and some folks were very friendly. Fishermen will park at water during the day. No loud people or anything, overall good spot!

Report Check-In

We stayed here 2 nights but left due to the biting flies, our dogs couldn’t escape them and while the beach was beautiful in landscape, the water was filled with trash. Pretty sad. There are trash cans and seems to be a pretty popular beach for locals to come gosh

Report Check-In

Great place. Full of people and campers but with the sound of the waves, you are not bothered at all.

Report Check-In

What a beautiful beach. I was stuck earlier on my trip so I feel a bit insecure, but this is a hard beach to ride on. Only garbage, no toilet. What a view. Not to far from village.

Report Check-In

Great spot on the beach. Sand is packed/easy to drive on. We checked out the next three beach entrances after this one and liked this spot best - easy access and wide beach.

No potties in January but plenty of trash can. Good cell reception.

Report Check-In

Gorgeous beach that goes on and on for miles and miles. We spent four nights here and saw very few people in January, except a few other vans. Beach is wide enough and hard enough that we were never concerned about getting stuck or tides being too high. Trash cans to help keep the place clean. At one point a ranger did come and tell us to move because we were too close to the dunes. Apparently you are supposed to park as far forward as the biggest dune, which kind of puts you in the way of the main path people drive, which concerned us. We settled for parking somewhere in between so as not to get hit by a car in the night and still protect the dunes and comply with the ordinance.

Report Check-In

we stayed here for 2 nights. there are blue toilets and trash available. Verizon signal had 3 lines. The beach was really nice.

Report Check-In

What's not to love, free parking on the beach, this will be a yearly destination for us!!!

Report Check-In

Great site, wide beach area. Cell service and TV reception good
