Costa Rica
This place feels like being in the middle of the jungle with monkeys playing in the high trees above you. The house has an outdoor platform ideal for bird watching. You can sit on a sofa and wait for the birds. You can camp in either a tent or your camper on front of the house. The ground is solid and shady. There is fresh water and you can have access to a cabin with shower and toilet. You can even have electricity. Space for maybe three campers.
The owner does not live here so contact him in advance. José A Solis WhatsApp: +506 8891 8589 Email: [email protected]
He speaks Spanish and English and charges 10 USD per person. Expensive if you only look for a place to stay but okay if you are interested in taking pictures and watching the birds. There is a path leading to the river. It is very quiet at night, howler monkeys might wake you up early in the morning. I saw toucans, woodpecker, a sloth and monkeys.
Access is from Ruta 4 south of Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí and then about 3,5 km of bad gravel road but totally okay without 4x4.
