Malawi
This is the place formerly known as Wakwenda Retreat now under new ownership. The Ilala and other boats drop anchor very close by and the staff came to find me. Really great place to visit for a few days, beautiful spot & bar with some of the best snorkelling I’ve done in Malawi! Owners not around but manager is a really great guy. Camping is $5, meals around $4 (bring -everything- if you plan to self cater as there are no restaurants and only a few small shops) and beers $1.5. Make sure to book before turning up ([email protected] is quick to reply). Most of the activities previously available now not but snorkels & beach games free to use. Lodge building and grounds could do with a bit more upkeep but hadn’t had any visitors for months so can be forgiven. Chizimulu also now has an Airtel mast so signal everywhere. Go visit!
