Description

couple of parking spots behind the shopping plaza of kmart. take samson rd and take a right into the plaza. as you enter the parking lot take an immediate left to go behind the building and there are a few spots tucked behind the corner. i stayed here for 1 night and wasn’t bothered at all :) could definitely stay for a few nights if needed. no cars drove by. i got here around 9pm and left at 9am. there is a restaurant in the plaza and public bathrooms in the business around.

Report Check-In

We are traveling with our friends and we both have truck campers (TC). when we pulled in we decided to go around the building instead and park in the unlit parking at the front of the shut down Kmart. There were a couple other TCs and an RV parked here and in the back parking lot of Publix.
At 9pm after we ate (Highly recommend Fernandez the bull Cuban grill btw) and walked back to the trucks, there were four cop cars parking in the front Publix lot. Around 9:30 one cop car pulled up the the TC and RV in the Publix lot. They ended up leaving, presumably told to leave. We fired up our trucks and went to the back corner behind the building that's actually mentioned in the description. We parked and waited while we watched the other TC, in the unlit lot we had been in, get told to leave.

The cop left without stopping by us. No knock at night. Quiet spot for the night. There still are roosters here, they haven't been killed by the 20+ cats around the plaza.
BTW, there are no "No Overnight parking" signs, but it is the Keys, so I understand why they have to boot people.

Report Check-In

We tried to stay here tonight and around 8:30pm the parking lot was swarmed with cops knocking on every vehicle saying no overnight camping is allowed in the county. Would not recommend trying to stay here.

Over by the closed Kmart. It’s dark and peaceful! Roosters crowed in the morning and everything lol. There were about 5 or 6 campers…I’m in a Honda CRV. I talked with police officers for a bout 30 min too (i left my lights on and needed a jump!). There’s no issues staying there. There’s a Publix grocery store too!

Report Check-In

I stopped here for the night, and parked closer around front in an out-of-the-way corner. There was at least one other person parked here as well. No one told us to move. Be aware, the roosters also like this place! I heard them off and on all at all hours. I just turned on my small fan to cover the noise.
