Description

Forest road 057. Numerous spots all the way to the stream. We seem to be the only ones here tonight after the holidays. we didn't venture any further down the road due to possible snow tonight. This spot would hold two Rigs if friends. Large enough for fifth wheel or camper to back in. Fairly level spot. There is a spot about a half a mile farther that would hold 4 to 6 rigs for groups. Approximately 12 miles from the west gate of Yellowstone.

Nice and quiet for being so close to the road. We stopped here since we were unsure of the road. I walked down the road to the next 7 sites and the road was better than the road to this point. If you have 4X4 take the path (literally a path) directly across
from the tower. In just a short distance you will be on top of a hill with views to forever. Plenty of room there for a 2 or 3 campers too but the trail has pretty deep ruts.

we were looking forward to being under some trees, but there’s a few huge mud puddles taking up the whole road right before you hit the trees. we’ve gotten stuck in our 2WD van before and didn’t want to risk it :(

We pulled in late and the place was pretty full. We managed to find a great spot in the trees with a fire ring. Nice quiet spot for an overnight!

Nice spot, but fairly rutted. Turnoff from highway has a giant pothole/puddle that’s definitely a challenge but the Prius made it through and so did the class B in my group. Larger rv came up later and got stuck trying to turnaround and had to get towed out. Doable but be cautious if you don’t have 4wd like the last reviewer mentioned!

1 to 2 inches of snow still on the road and ground. The road was also rutted and very muddy. I didn't venture farther than the first parking area as I was spinning tires in my subaru outback awd coming up the main access. It's a quiet spot with a nice view of Sawtell Peak. A couple in a Ford transit van tried to make after I arrived, but the road was too much for a front 2wd. They decided to check around near the lake for a more accessible site. It was mostly level with a slit tilt downhill. 3-4 bars 4g with at&t, and minimal road noise. I would advise this spot not be used by anyone without 4wd in early to mid May. Otherwise it's a pretty clutch spot for the night.

This place is only 11 miles from Yellowstone’s west gate. It’s our first night getting someplace while it’s still daylight on this 5500 mile trip. Road is a little rough for regular cars, but the Jeep crushed it in 2 wheel. Just very bumpy. Glad there are plenty of dispersed sites such as this.

Beautiful little spot. Pop off the main road and it’s one a mile or two up a bit of a bumpy ride. I wouldn’t drive a low vehicle up it, but you also don’t need 4x4. My 3500 Chevy express made it up with its fuel injection issue. The GPS takes you to a flat with grass, good for an RV, but further up right past the sign there’s a gem I found with plenty of shade and two to three bars Verizon and one to two bars T-mobile. Enough to work remotely. I definitely recommend.

No problem getting in with our 2wd promaster, road is in good condition. Cell signal wasn’t an issue. There are a lot of people here but given it’s the 4th weekend not surprised. Nice views and overall quiet neighborhood.

got our 24 ft rv here no problem. this place gets packed!

pros: amazing cell signal. I had full Verizon bars the whole time. quiet and beautiful!

cons: rough road! gets crowded here a lot of people stay especially during the weekend.

Really nice quiet spot in the forest, private, quiet. Last campers here left us a nice pile of wood. Food cash (bear proof bin) available for food storage. Free & close to Yellowstone NP.
