Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Two notes: this area is gated & locked from roughly mid-Oct until mid-May, so be aware of that if you are passing through in the off season.
The area immediately opposite on the other side the highway is public land (Kakakiwibik Esker Conservation Reserve). There's a small gravel pullout that goes down to the river, suitable for a small RV or tent trailer. This area was burned over by a forest fire in summer 2023, so be careful if you choose to camp here; make sure there are no hazard trees that could fall on your campsite.
Report Check-InNice area beside river, and very close to hwy, stopped for a quick break but decided to continue on
Report Check-InRest area with parking and picnic tables for an overnight, nice pit toilets and creek side. Beware- Quite noisy between the hwy traffic and train right next to the rest area. It’s a good option if car camping and need a place to rest. No Cell service for us.
Report Check-Inno "no overnight parking" signs. lots of picnic tables. just stopped for a rest, not overnight
Report Check-InLovely spot for a quick overnight. It gets quite dark, there are picnic tables, garbages and pit toilets.
Report Check-InAs described, however not exactly big rig friendly. Had lunch, May stop another time for the night
Report Check-InThe gates are locked at the front. You cannot get in. This may be a temporary closure. We stayed instead at “Hammer Lake” a few kilometres east. That’s a nice spot.
Report Check-InRest stop by the highway. Nice grassy sites with new picnic tables. No fire rings, vault toilets lit by solar. Trains go by during the night and road traffic is noisy until after midnight. But an ok place to overnight.
