Really enjoying this place. Free, well-maintained cut grass in designated circle, spot for fire pit (but too dry for fire right now), easy access to river, cell phone service, and although it's by the road, it wasn't super noisy at all. You can check out the dugout built by this dude many years ago (Dick, he's since passed) but it's built right into a rock wall. The camp area could hold at least a few vans, but gonna have to get cozy with your neighbors.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
There is a no camping sign as you pull in to the dugout area, understandably so as who wants to check this dugout out while someone’s camping at it
Report Check-InSpent the night camped by the river. No traffic noise, the sound of the river is peaceful. There is a new no camping sign up though.
Report Check-InDugouts had too much snow to get to in 2WD sprinter, but parked right near the sign. Super quiet nice spot!
Report Check-Inno camping sign however two tent campers and my class b spend the night ... nothing special
Report Check-InCoolest. Campsite. Ever. These are the kinds of places I love finding. Awesome history of Dugout Dick, large open circle with a fire ring, easy river access 50 feet away.
Report Check-InOnly stopped here for lunch but it's a beautiful area with some nice signage about the history of Dugout Dick. The river was a great spot for a bath after a few days off the grid.
Report Check-Inquiet, nice river sounds, elk singing. great spot to camp after a moonlit night hike to goldbug hot springs. the dugout is interesting and it made me a little sad that people like him can't really live that way anymore because of our country being overregulated.
