This looks stunning January 27th 2024. A little piece of heaven in the winter. Problem is at 6000’ of elevation, it’s totally snowed in. You can camp right by the road, that area is plowed out but compact snow. I can’t help but think the wild life over pass so close must direct four legged creature right through this overnight area. It’s 39° outside at 3:30pm under sunny skies, but must dip below freezing after the sun goes down. After March this might be good.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot tucked in between a bunch of juniper trees. Very cold, but beautiful. Probably not the best time of year to camp out, but what the heck

Report Check-In

The dirt road on the other side of the gate is now heavily rutted. I chose not to take my 22 foot sprinter van on it. You could probably straddle the ruts, but I had no idea if there would be a turnaround place further down the road without needing to cross into the ruts. Also, deep rut preventing access to the road down the hill at the Y, which would take you up to the flat spots. It was disappointing enough to see people not having common sense to avoid rutting up the soft ground. But the trash that was left behind was totally disgusting. I posted a picture of trash in bags people left piled around the garbage cans near the wildlife sign. The town is less than 3 miles to the south, where one could easily drop these bags off in a gas stations garbage bins. Come on people!

At the Y after the gate, go right not left. Super nice and secluded. Dogs love it. As described by others.

Report Check-In

Open the gate to the right of the pull-off just south of the animal bridge. Take the second y down the hill and then back up to a flat area among the juniper. There is a wide spot if you go straight ahead, but do not go further. Private land and a house is farther down the road. Hwy 93 traffic noise but otherwise quiet and isolated.

Report Check-In

As described, once through the gate, we too the low road that quickly goes up to the hilltop where all the flat camp spots are. Quiet night with some animal making noise under the truck. Beautiful sunset!

Report Check-In

Stopped in to check out this place for future overnights. Went through the gate and ventured in a little bit before we decided to back up as it’s snowing right now and hard to tell the conditions ahead. Just an FYI that this place is off of Highway 93, north of Interstate 80, not west of Interstate 80 as stated in one of the previous posts. It’s a pretty area and we will come back in the spring or summer to stay here overnight.

Report Check-In

Nice space off of 93 with some level ground. We arrived around 1130pm and could not go down the round 1/4 mile, as stated in a previous post. The gate was closed/locked. Though, it’s fairly quiet and dark sky’s provide a beautiful star show.

Great spot! 10 miles west of hwy 80. Great roads. Enter through the unlocked gate. We did not venture very far down the road with our 30’ rig however we could have gone farther in drier weather. Spent an amazing full moon evening with the snow capped mountains in view.

Report Check-In

Lovely secluded place to spend a night or two. Put Google Maps in satellite view so you can see the dirt paths. Some trash around, reminder to take care of our public lands.

Report Check-In

There is a pull off from the 93 at the gate to enter the BLM land. The pull off is pretty large with an information board about the wildlife bridge. We unhitched here to see if we'd be able to tow in our 36' tt, we can't, there is a good dip in the road not suitable for longer rigs. We are staying at the pull off for tonight. It is nice to be able to go walk our dogs well away from the highway. The gate does have a chain, but not locked, not meant to ever be locked.

Report Check-In

Exactly as described. Really good spot with some highway noise. You have to unlatch the gate once you turn off 93 and then take your immediate right at the Y once you are through.
