Report Check-In

We arrived after the gates were closed and slept on the boulder hill overlooking the geysers. (Right turn just before the riverbed dip). It was windy but we had a great morning view of 100 tour vehicles coming and going. By 9am they were all gone. We drove in. Must show passport, register and pay fees at buildings.
NOTE- No pets allowed in this park.

Report Check-In

They don't want us to sleep in their parking lot anymore, apparently there was a problem at night and the barrier was closed... So we slept outside on the side of the road.

Report Check-In

Stayed here with our motorhome for one night. We arrived before sunset (approx. 6pm) and the nice rangers did let us park inside of the gated area and use the bathrooms.

Report Check-In

Rangers won’t let you camp inside the gate anymore because of COVID protocols. They told us we were welcome to camp “anywhere outside the gate”. Current cost to enter El Tatio is 15.000CLP per person.

Report Check-In

Has describe before, safe spot to sleep in the van, bathroom really clean open 24/7. Went to the geyser the next morning. Friendly staff.

Report Check-In

As described. Our second time here and well worth it. We took the paved road from Chui Chui, only 17k of unpaved road top the geysers.

Report Check-In

The road itself worth the trip: volcanoes, birds life, vicuñas...
We arrived at 6pm and stayed on the parking lot with our van for the night. The very clean toilets stay open 24/7 and we bought our ticket the next morning at 6am. We were alone until 7am (tour buses) and the sun came out at 8am.
10,000 CLP each.

Report Check-In

Like others we arrived in the afternoon. The lady at the entrance was very friendly, sold us a ticket for 10000.-pp (valid for the afternoon AND next morning) and let us stay during the night. Bathrooms stayed open. Freezing night but worth it to be first in the geyser field!

Report Check-In

Rangers were happy to let us camp. Toilets are open 24/7. Keep in mind that this camp site is at 4300m.

Report Check-In

We arrived a few minutes past 5 pm and spent the night in our campervan at the parking lot. There was also a couple in a rooftop tent and a biker in a ground tent. Although we were prepared for a freezing night, we underestimated the issues with the height. It‘s difficult to sleep and you can easily get altitude sickness. Therefore we don‘t recommend spending the night there!

It‘s true that the Geysirs are much more active between 6 and 8 am. Anyway if you have seen them already in Iceland or New Zealand you may be disappointed.

Report Check-In

We recommend going here in the afternoon as well to spend the night at the parking lot. We arrived at 3pm and asked the Rangers and it wasn't a problem at all. We bought the tickets and could visit the geysers in the afternoon and visit them with the same ticket the day after. Opens at 5:30am (maybe only high season, don't know for sure.)

Report Check-In

We arrived at 4:30pm, spoke to the ranger, paid our 10,000 Pesos per person entry fee, and was allowed to camp in our rooftop tent in the large parking lot. A German couple were also allowed to camp in their ground tent that same night. Additional bathrooms have been built, so there are two areas for females and two for males at the entrance, with a LOT of stalls - front bathrooms were open all night.
Highly recommend driving up the afternoon before visiting the geysers, as there are far fewer vehicles on the road, you can see a lot of wildlife, and then you can get to the geysers first thing when the gate opens at 6am, although so many tour vehicles arrived early that they opened the gate around 5:30am the day we were there.

Report Check-In

still you can sleep here, and use the bathrooms, the rangers are very very friendly, and they have a paramedic if you have problems with the altitude.
And personal a like more the photos after the crowd.

Report Check-In

They allowed us to sleep here, no problem. Very quiet but cold indeed! Bathroom access, super clean.

Report Check-In

spent a quiet night here, just a few tips: it is a decent drove to the actual geysers and you must go by car (I was under the impression that we would go by foot from this parking lot, so I hadn't packed up the car that morning before buying tickets), also the biggest geysers are at the far end of the drive, not the first geyser field you come to... thanks to those errors we weren't the first ones there, but we were beaten by the tourist busses.

Report Check-In

We arrived 14.00 and had the geysers for ourselves. We parked the motorhome at the car park opposite the office and had a quite but sleepless night. At 6.30 it was -5°C, so the hot water geysers were steaming nicely. Immediately after the sun came up, the steam seemed to rise even higher for a while.

Report Check-In

This place is NOT closed. I don't know how to remove it. I have a feeling that only during the high season months of Jan/Feb they do not let you camp in front of the gate but in October 2017 we had no problem. I don't know how cold it was but more than -10C for sure, maybe -14C. We have a very insulated Canadian camper and all our water and water pipes (including toilet!) were frozen. It didn't feel too cold at night but we put the furnace on in the morning.
Viewing geysers in the morning is best due to the cold air. When it warms up, many of the geysers "disappear".

Report Check-In

The rangers allowed us to stay at the parking in the front of the office for the night. Probably because it's Winter and there is no one. We can access to the clean toilets 30m away even at night time. Very convenient.

Report Check-In

Nous avons eu l.accord de dormir sur le parking. La billetterie ouvre le matin à 5h00.

Report Check-In

When we arrived, they say to us its not possible to camp here, so we turned an stoped by some ghosthouses closed to the geysire entrance, we parked our camper in a shed (and were not the first one) ;-) and had a windless but cold night (even in february -4℃). BUT i would not recommend this if you are not used to high altitude... for us was it ok.

Report Check-In

We were not allowed tot camping on thé parking

Report Check-In

overnighting on the big parkinglot on the hill at the control office is allowed, but not at another places.

Report Check-In

no problem camping. park in front of the gate and ask for mario. he's a nice guy and let you camp in the parking lot. entry now 10'000pP

Report Check-In

The lady at the entrance said that recently it's not allowed anymore to camp there!
But since we arrived really late and it was dark already, she wouldn't send us away and we slept there. It had -10 celsius, not really fun..

Report Check-In

If you plan to spend the night ready for a dawn view, we recommend getting there in the afternoon before, so you can check out the site and work out your preferred spot for viewing in the morning. Wouldn't recommend parking up here for the night unless you have heating in your truck (or you're very tough :-) )

Report Check-In

A lot has already been written here but this is just to stress that you absolutely have to be at the geysers about 60 min. before sunrise or you WILL MISS the best light and views. Some people may tell you to arrive only after the crowd has left — don't listen, it's not true.

Report Check-In

Nice spot, very scenic for sunset. Bathrooms. A lot of space on the parking lot. Not to windu, but it's at 4300m so it can be cold.

Report Check-In

I Would highly recommend you to camp 1000m below near Guatin or Puritama and drive to El Tatio at 7:30am. 4200m like el tatio is, is very high for the Human body and very Cold in the Night. 1000m below is much better for slepping. But needles to say its a incredible Spot to visit

Report Check-In

If you are used to the high altitude of more then 4.300 meters it is a great spot to stay for one night. Great sunset and sunrise with the overview of the geysirs.

Report Check-In

We reached the geysers at 5 am (a bit too earily as the sunrise was at 7:30) and even though there was light in the control station nobody came out, so we continued towards the geysers without buying the tickets. Nobody checked anything when we left at 9.

Report Check-In

Free camping for the night at the geysers. Toilets available. Buses arrive very early in the morning...

Report Check-In

Nice spot to camp overlooking the geyser field. Tour buses arrive early so no need for an alarm clock to see the geysers at their most active time of day. Once the gate opens in the morning it is possible to drive onto the geyser field and see them close up. Free to camp.

Report Check-In

Access to geysers was 5,000 pesos per person. We pulled in after sunset so didn't pay until next morning, camping was free. Bathroom have cold running water and are clean. No additional facilities. Nighttime was very quiet with brilliant stars. This was a great spot to get up at dawn and see the geysers which, unlike us, are most active at sunrise.

Report Check-In

Scenic spot. But the water at the first pool is very cold for hot tubbing
