Stayed there overnight and didn't have any problem. Some teenagers stayed pretty late and were noisy but since we were next to the beach, the ocean waves gave a good background noise so it wasn't too bad. There's a public washroom in the parking lot that's accessible during day time (from about 7am to about 8-9pm) which was a nice bonus.

A lovely spot to park the van and stay for a night! We stayed in October, which is off season for York. No one bothered us. Bathroom closes at 7pm. It was so quiet and peaceful, got up for sunrise on the beach. Would absolutely stay again.

As described. Great location. This is my second time staying here. Lovely spot. It is loud as it’s a tourist town. But summer is fading and fall is coming so it’s likely much quieter in the off season. Teens on the beach and some skateboarding in the parking lot til about 1 am. Didn’t bother me at all they were respectful and not overly loud. But if you’re a light sleeper it may bother you. Beautiful spot to make food in my van with door wide open. No one said anything. Plenty of people looked haha but just out of curiosity I think. Wonderful breeze in the evening. Will stay again.

We are here on a Tuesday night. There’s a bar across the street that is open until 1AM so loud music until 1AM. We were hoping it would quiet down after the bar closed... but many of the patrons park in this parking lot and the party continues in the parking lot. There was music playing from cars and people revving their engines... Yes you can park until 7AM ... but it’s $2 an hour after 7AM. If you are looking for a place to park late and leave early... this is the place for you! But if you like to sleep early... this is not the place for you :( internet is okay.. we have AT&T and it’s good and bad at times. Beach is dog friendly only before 8am to be off leash. 8am - 6pm dogs are not allowed. 6pm onwards - allowed on a 15 ft leash

Tried to stay here last night in our camper van. While skating around the water and basketball court, we passed a couple bike cops. On their third pass within the hour we decided to ask them if we could stay overnight here, and they said it wasn’t allowed. They recommended the York park and ride but we decided to take our chances at the Long Sands Beach parallel spots along the water. Free parking 10pm-8am with $2/hour parking after. No one bothered us

One of my favorite overnight spots!! Some other car campers and RVs. Ample space.
It was raining, cool temperature and the sound of waves made an awesome sleeping environment for this car camper!
Bathrooms have been opened up for awhile again after COVID closure.
Dogs welcome on leash on the sidewalks (lots of dogs walking in the morning). I wish I would’ve taken my dog to the beach area but they aren’t allowed on the beach after 8am (signs posted).
Don’t have to pay for parking after 10:00pm-7:00am, otherwise pay with card at meters.

They’ve started giving out $50 tickets for parking overnight. There are no signs that say no overnight parking but we got one along with everyone else parked here overnight.

Great spot right on the ocean. Who doesn’t love falling asleep listening to the waves roll in right in front of you? Would definitely stay here again!

A cop rode around on the lot for safety around 12:30, but didn’t knock and he seemed unconcerned that we were there. 2 other van lifers here with me. Just be aware that they start checking meters at 8am. Also, it’s in a town, so full cell service.

Report Check-In

Knocked on by Police. I was told that there are too many complaints so they’ve had to start kicking people out. Here, and the other location tagged 5 minutes away.

Report Check-In

Cop came through at midnight and made me and two other vans leave. Said locals have been complaining and they don’t want people sleeping there anymore. Perhaps they should put up a sign or take it off the website 🙃

Report Check-In

Police knocked at midnight. No camping allowed. They redirected me to a park and ride lot on Spur Road, 10 minutes away.

Report Check-In

Plenty of parking, but it’s $2/hour 8am-10PM. I wasn’t able to confirm that overnight parking is allowed on their website. We didn’t stay since it would get too expensive feeding the meter.

Report Check-In

Clean beach exactly as described. Large parking lot

Report Check-In

Short sands parking lot at York beach is OPEN for bus & RV parking. It is listed on their website as YES to park overnight. We stayed last night (along with a few other cars) and no issues.

Because of COVID, all bathrooms are closed and they removed trash cans so take all trash with you. Very quiet!
