Stopped on way back from Orvis. Deserted but peaceful and nice place for free. Lots of people shooting targets. Lots! I’m
Report Check-InMulti-use BLM land near Albuquerque. Bumpy dirt road on the way in, areas of most Cholla and rocky buttes between. some flat areas to camp. Clearly used by cattle and for target practice, but some areas are less abused than others. Very quiet place to spend the night and also explore for rocks and fossils.
Report Check-InCabezon Rd is heavily washboarded almost the whole way once off of 550. There are many open spots to camp off of Cabezon Rd, dirt trails that lead to open flat camping areas, probably best in a high clearance 4x4. Free roaming cattle in this area. Beautiful place to camp but be aware this is a popular spot for people to come and shoot their guns. You hear the pop pop pops almost all day and there are so many ammunition shells littered all over the place. Nights were quiet. Verizon 2 bars 4G, AT&T very weak service.
