If you think migrating birds are cool, you’ll love this spot. There are literally thousands of migrating snow geese, swans, pelicans, shorebirds, etc within view of this campsite. Great sunset, eating dinner at a picnic table with geese Flying V formation overhead. There were two other vans that showed up late at night and left early morning which this is a good overnight parking spot also. But there is more to offer if you’re interested! Including a trail around the lakes that’s a fun bike ride. Clean bathroom, 3 bars Verizon, picnic tables, 14 day limit on camping. Keep it clean!

alright place to spend the night for free— i tent camped but the clearing is pretty rocky and open, so it wasn’t the most comfortable. pit toilet was nice, and had a couple picnic tables but no fire pits (sign said no fires). the road out to the campsite/clearing was a little rough, but i managed it in a low clearance car going slowly. some bugs, but not awful.

I stayed for 1 night on July 12th 2023. It is a perfectly good campsite. However it is barren and very buggy. No campfires and no reason not to have campfires. It is flat with a table or 2 with a single vault toilet. Really not my cup of tea. One night and I took off to Lowry bridge 22 miles to the south.

Report Check-In

The gate is open and I have 3 bars with Verizon. Really pretty!

Wunderful free campsite. Stayed one night here without bothering. Some birdwatchers greeted friendly. No signs prohibited/closed. There are several sites. Very calm.

gates to access roads closed (presumably for the season). overnighted in the large road side pull out. pelicans in the lake, mosquitos present. gorgeous sunset.

Report Check-In

Beautiful. Wide open, no shelter. A sort of group campground set up with a number of picnic tables and a pit toilet. Very flat with excellent VZN service.

Stayed here for 1 night. Great free camping spot. Only 1 other RV here and 3 bars LTE so I could work! Also most beautiful sunset I’ve seen in Montana!

Report Check-In

off road for 1/4 mile. Just 1 other car there. Totally quiet and beautiful place. Great view of the lake. Many birds and according to other Overlander, also Grizzlies. Stayed 2 nights.

obvious reasons.

Lovely spot, had the place to ourselves. One maintenance worker that came by in the morning, no issues. Some flies but only mosquitos at night. Pit toilet in good shape. Picnic table.
