Something not right?

Description

Large turnaround by the river. Follow the narrow road off the turnaround thru to an opening further away from the hwy. Further down the narrow road (keep right) you'll see a large clearing with a fire pit, as well as access to a sandy beach area. Access on the narrow road would be risky for larger non 4x4 vehicles, but the main turnaround by the hwy is fine for a small trailer and any sort of car. 3G reception (no LTE with Rogers).

Latest Check-Ins

Several big and little spots hidden between woods, river and beach. Some have fire pit. Really quiet, pretty, but Many spot are very disgusting (toilet paper, packaging food, coffee cup…).
Warning, don’t go too far if you have not a 4x4… sand is very thin you can get stuck in it.

Report Check-In

This is a great spot exactly as described. There were three other vehicles here in different spots where we could not see each other. Quiet and peaceful. Did some fishing in the river.

Report Check-In

Great spot! We drove in off hiway 17. It looks like there are places to stay right along the hiway, but we took the left turn off that headed down to the river.. It was a single lane track but we made it fine with our Ford Transit van. You soon get to a crossroads. This is probably where the fisherpeople park their vehicles. You could probably camp here, it's level and large enough for 2 or 3 campers without blocking any of the other roads. Straight ahead is a small trail for river access but there is nowhere to camp there. There is a road to the right that we didn't take. We took the road to the left. Another single track, that takes you to another large level clearing with room for maybe 3 campers to snuggle in. The road keeps going onto the beach but we didn't want to get stuck in the sand so we stayed in the clearing. You can't see the water from here, but it is just 10 seconds to walk to the beach. You can see the hiway from the beach, so you can hear distant traffic noise, but I didn't hear any traffic all night. Even now at 9:30am there is very little traffic. There are quite a few mosquitoes, but we just had a day of rain. And there are no mosquitoes at the beach. I've got full cell service but there are too many trees to get a signal for Starlink. We were the only ones here on a Tuesday night, end of June. It was great!!

Great little private spot - took left road after pulling off highway and came to a small clearing - room to turn around - level spots - nice path the the river - decent cell service - not too much road noise - good sleep.

Report Check-In

Fantastic spot.
The trail was very dry so it was easily accessible with my Hyundai Accent. However, it can definitely be difficult in a muddy situation for low cars.
Very calm location, I was the only one on site, but some leftovers from previous campers did leave a trail. Get yourself something fresh to drink to watch the sunset on the white sandy beach!

Report Check-In

Great spot. Many different spots on the river that are perfect for a quiet nights sleep. Stayed here 2 nights as it was such a nice place to walk around.

Report Check-In

Several small trails with spots to stay. You can still hear highway traffic but it’s not bad.

Report Check-In

Perfect spot to camp for a night or two. Multiple campsites with fire pits in the trees accessible by a 2WD trail. Huge beach with nice sand along the river that is popular among fishermen. Quiet and clean, I highly recommend this spot.

Report Check-In

Awesome spots - multiple to select from. Many with fire pit and/or direct access to the river beach. There is a good selection of spots even before getting to the sandy parts. We chose a beautiful one, surrounded by trees, with fire pit and river access. Would always stop here again.

Report Check-In

Great spots !
When existing hw17, take the first left road (after 10m). You will find at least 4 spots before the sandy beach (accessible with 2wd).

Don't go on the beach if you don't have an appropriate vehicule or if you don't know how to drive in soft sand.

I have put some aerial pictures of the spots and beach

Report Check-In

Good place to stop right out of Lake Superior Provincial Park. Warning: do not go onto beach with your vehicle. You are very likely to get stuck. We saw a couple get stuck who had to end up calling CAA after we failed to pull them out.

This place is in wrong location - it is located at 47.92180, -84.80733

Report Check-In

still open- still great. be brave and pass both clearing to the sandy riverbank, very nice place to stay. no problems in 2wd van - just stick to the firm ground closer to the forest/ left hand side and don't power into the soft sand ;)

Report Check-In

Stopped in to have a look my tall Transit van rubbed a few branches on the way, really nice spot, can fit a few campers. Will be staying here next time through.

Report Check-In

perfect spot for the roadtripper! seems to be lots of fisherman around. We made friends with some other campers and enjoyed a campfire together. The riverside is still a bit ice so we walked most of our gear in. Definitely worth walking down the beach to check it out. We saw a few river otters and many other animal footprints in the sand!

Report Check-In

Nice spot. Additional directions; pull off the highway at the sign onto a paved piece. follow the narrow dirt road on the left. It brings you to the first clearing. To get a bit farther from the road continue left to the second clearing w/ small fire ring. First clearing would be suitable for a small trailer w/ room to turn.

Report Check-In

Great spot and quiet. No one was here so the dogs are able to roam free. Was able to get down to the beach with truck and 22’ camper no issues. Although the sand for this situation is super loose and soft. No issues for the truck but the camper is too low profile and just digging into the sand. So CAA is on its way. 😢

Report Check-In

Great spot down near the river. The sandy river made for a beautiful morning walk.

My Class B van made it through the tracks easily.

It’s a loop, so you can take either fork at the road.

Report Check-In

There are many spots here, some in the bush, some out along the river, and out on the sand. If you have a bigger rig, you may not be able to get into the forest and closer to the river, but you can still park on the side ride beside the highway. I had to myself as all the spots were full & didn't want to drive past the sand and risk getting stuck. It's a nice place if you get a good spot in time

Report Check-In

Awesome spot, one of the best! A black bear wandered through the camp when we were there, so don't let kids wander far on their own. Also beware of driving onto the beach area unless your vehicle and your driving skills can handle the deep soft sand, we saw a Jeep getting stuck.

Report Check-In

Easily accessible for bigger rigs if you don’t mind a few low branches. We went there with a 27ft. You don’t need a 4WD. But people, PLEASE pack out what you pack in!! There is toilet paper everywhere and now this place once beautiful look trashy. If you don’t have a built in toilet in your unit, the least to do is to have a shovel, dig and burry your toilet paper and

Be respectful and don’t drive on the shore.

What a great spot. Nice beach on the river. While I would not recommend trying it, It’s a tight road but I got a 34 foot rv with 26 foot trailer in and out with some caution

Report Check-In

Amazing site. Nice and close to the Trans-Canada, and Wawa. Plenty of spots to put a tent and hide a car down the old roads.

Report Check-In

Nice quiet spot. Away from highway. We even made it down the dirt road in a B class van. But PLEASE take your rubbish with you (including used TP). Dont burn it in your fire, dont dump it! There is a bin in the loop by the bridge on the drive out. Have some respect and keep this place clean so that we can continue to use it.

Report Check-In

great spot
was told by a local it used to be a camping
solo on the end of the road but there was another rv little closer to the main road
great firepit as well

Report Check-In

We pulled in and decided to drive a little further down the road as described.
Nice area and room for our truck & camper and large trailer. A little tight down the dirt road but a few scratches are ok for us.

Road noise was present since the bridge is in full view.
