Description

We couldn’t quite make it up to the logging road in our 2WD high clearance van after consistent rain (we didn’t try) so we found this spot nearby. It was accessible and lovely! Great views, fire ring, level ground, stumps for natural seating, and it’s at a dead end so the other van that came to join us didn’t need to pass by at all. Some mountain bikers through nearby woods during the day. We tried a fire but the wet wood and wind combo didn’t work out. Much calmer in the morning! Room for 3-4 vehicles, but not all might find level ground. Sign saying no camping on a specific upcoming day, probably due to logging or a biking event, so we felt that camping was allowed on our dates. Main parking lot a 5 min drive away from the spot had toilets but was day use only. Verizon LTE 2-3 bars, sometimes slow but functional. Gorgeous spot!

Beautiful space with a view of Mt Hood (and Mt Adams in the other direction). Near some fun mountain biking trails (Family Man). Requires a steep drive up a gravel road that isn’t too rutted out. The area is rocky but great for vans or rooftop tents!

Report Check-In

Like other spots nearby, directions may take you through Family Man Staging Area, which has a gate across the road. Take a left at the fork right before will get you around to your destination. The actual spot described here was occupied when I visited, but I decided the space on the side of the road right before it was sufficient enough. Still a great view!

Incredible!!!
Cons are the wind which seems to be present with gusts 20-30mph every day

Also spot is in high demand. So I’d say unlikely to find it empty. Lots of spots all over on sides of paths etc

Got lost using gps coordinates.
Here are the coordinates off the compass on my IPhone according to where I’m sitting. Using provided coordinates will lead you to a private residents home. 🏠 no bueno and super frustrating. Happy trails. Windy twisty steep roads. Not super wild just steep
. Made it up here in my over size truck camper on the back of my 7.3 Ferd. 530K miles and counting! 🏔️😎

Awesome spot with spectacular views of down below. The river the bridge and town. At night you can see it all from a top. Windy wrapping road steep in places. Made it up in our large truck camper , as did our chase rig with low ground clearance. Road coming in was very nice 👍🏻 as you approach the spot some eh spots , but nothing you can’t over come. Definitely worth the trek in.

We got lost the first time we tried to find this stellar spot… here are some coordinates from exactly where we are as told by google earth. 🌍

45°40'25"N 121°36'59"W it can be hard sometimes when you go to find a spot and you forget the darn name of it! Then it takes you to somewhere you didn’t expect.

Had lunch at the Ferment Brewing Company. Live band that sounded really good! Great food, there were some folks wind surfing with lots of vans and truck campers. It was good!

Awesome service for Verizon. Streaming away with hot chocolate!

Don’t overlook this little gem . If you mountain bike there is a bad ass track to ride on. ✌🏻🏔️🚲

Awesome spot just outside of Mt. Hood. spectacular views.
Sadly someone else already there, so had to carry on to find another spot.
There’s also another pullout just up the road, also with amazing view

beautiful spot! full service, nice views!

Incredible view. A little muddy but was able to navigate in my RWD van. Popular area, off leash dogs, mountain bikers, dirt bikers, others in and around the area even during the week. Was able to let my pets roam safely with a close eye. Love this spot.

This spot is incredible! Beautiful views of the gorge and Hood River below. Quiet spot, occasional mountain bikers nearby during the day. Can be windy and very muddy depending on recent rains, it's an exposed spot. The road up here would benefit from a capable vehicle. Steep road, tight turns, lots of pot holes. Totally doable for our small rig, just a rough ride.
Pit toilet is available at the bike trailhead about a 5 minute drive away.

Can confirm. This is an awesome spot for a night. Road up was decent but a bit rough. 2wd sprinter made it up fine. Wouldn’t recommend for larger rigs. Great views. 2 bars T-Mobile. Only 1 other van the whole night. Pretty windy. Will come back.

Report Check-In

Windy but beautiful! Lots of mountain bikers in the morning.

Amazing location with very private feel. Space for two rigs from different parties. More if in same group. Primarily facing east. 2-3 bars of Verizon LTE. Road up is steep and no worries in 2 wheel drive van. Spent two nights here and saw one other vehicle each time.

Report Check-In

Awesome spot with room for two rigs in different parties. Little spur off main dirt road. Remarkable views, primarily facing east. 3 bars of Verizon.
