Good spot to save some $$$. Though you likely wont sleep much as the train roars on by at various times. Also road construction while we were here & many drivers would honk at the workers as they drive by. Road isnt entirely unused. We had somone drive down it (likely to skip construction) at 10pm. Woke up to a monkey on the ladder to our tent, cute, but glad we had nothing outside :)
Report Check-InOvernight parking between the road and the railroad tracks, both 5 m away, but hidden from the road, on a unused track along the railroad. 7 trains passed by in the night. Between 10 pm and 6 am road traffic is slow. Not nice but close to Addo Main Gate. If you get a site at Addo Main Camp you should pay the 350 ZAR and choose this .
Report Check-InWithin 10kms of Addo Elephant Park and a perfect overnight place if you don’t want to pay the high Park overnight fees.
Spot is on an unused service gravel road next to the train line. Train track seems not to have been used in ages and no sign of other vehicle tracks or activity in the area.
Spotted a couple of scouter-baboons who didn’t come closer than 200 meters.
Excellent views of the open fields.
