Very nice spot hidden behind a hill and an AT&T cell tower. I have Verizon so I didn’t have any Cell service but was able to use my skyroam hotspot for WiFi. Can easily fit a few RVs and it’s pretty leveled. Panoramic view of the ocean, breathtaking. Veryyy quiet, the hill kinda absorbs the highway sound. And from sunset to sunrise only a handful of cars pass by.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.

While here a forest ranger pulled in to tell us camping was not allowed here. He was not interested in ticketing us but to warn us the Sheriff or CHP could ticket us with up to 1000.00 fine.

This spot has no signs, but there IS a sign in Cambria (entering from a he soy h into Monterey County) saying “no parking off Hwy1 for the next 78 miles” which includes spot.
I was told by a local campground host that if you’re caught parking on Hwy 1, police are giving warnings. If caught again you’ll be ticketed with a hefty fine so risk responsibly.
Report Check-InCouple of warnings for people considering touring / camping on highway 1. Currently the road is closed just north of Lucia due to a mudslide. If you come this way, you will have no choice but to turn back. It looks like there is a mountain road heading inland about 4 miles south of Lucia (others further south), but I suspect these are steep with tight turns and will cause you to burn through your gas quickly and it looks like they are not serviced.
Regarding camping on this road in general, it's not legal anywhere. Even if there is a spot (like this one) without signage, it's still not permitted. There is a 'blanket' sign that says "No overnight camping on highway next 75 miles."
That said, I stayed here for one night without issue before heading back south. No cell service, despite being right next to an ATT antenna. Must be for other communications.
