Castle Crags State Park alternative spot. Since the park is closed we drove down the paved road where we found a pull off area next to the river. There’s been just a handful of cars driving by. Even ground to park your van on and no 4x4 necessary. Beautiful in the fall with the leaves changing color. A few bars of service. There’s other spots along the road as well if this one is taken.

Nice quiet spot along the National Forest paved road. Close to multiple trailheads including Dog Trail.
Report Check-InThere are tons of signs at these previous coordinates that say no camping. If you continue up the road, you leave the State park area and enter the National Forest. There are plenty of pull offs where you can camp.
When you first enter the forest there are several people that have been here for a long time, including an RV with a blue tarp that looks like it’s broken down. As you go farther down the road and up the mountain there are more secluded spots.
Nice to overnight here and peaceful. We went pretty far up the mountain and Only 2 vehicles passed us. 1 at night and 1 in the morning.
3 miles off the 5 hwy is a great wild camping spot. trails to the creek, deer spotted, extremely quiet, Verizon LTE internet👍
