Description

$2 showers for 5 minutes even if you're not staying at the campground. Not the best showers but better than nothing! Cheap laundry ($1.50/load wash and 25 cents/eight minutes dry). Cheaper groceries than at Chisos Basin store. Decent WiFi and shade. Good place to sit and watch coyotes and roadrunners.

I stayed at the rio grand camp ground for 5 nights and it was very nice. The spots were level, there are some that allow generators during specific hours and others that don’t. The bathrooms were clean and the hosts were really nice. The campground was spotless and you can really see the stars at night. There is no cell service but there is WiFi at the camp store. You can shower, do laundry, get some groceries, and fill up gas at the camp store. There is drinking water and a dump station between the campground and store. I felt very safe here.

With NPS Park pass sites are only $8! Camp store has hot showers for $2.00. Whole load of laundry for only $2.00 (WOW). And free WIFI that's good enough to send emails, What's App Calls, & YouTube videos. Really nice place 👍

This is for Rio Grande Campground. It’s level and spacious. Some of the sites have more privacy than others. Our site 60 backs to grass/bushes/trees and is among those with more privacy. It’s quiet during our stay even though site 60 is in generator zone. The Nature Trail by the campground is very unique and easy to hike. There’s no cellular service.

WIFI available in the store parking. Free WIFI

Just noting my experience with Wi-Fi at the store location was not good at all. FYI.

Purchase on line, first come first serve. Visited Big Bend the week before Thanksgiving which is their busy time. Recommend to book in advance. Nice campground, definitely much nicer then Cottonwood on other side. Showers, laundry and store at the village store along with Wi-Fi. Beautiful hiking trails just a stone throw to Mexico.

Nice Campsites. Less Trees and very hot. 41 Degrees Celsius.

Report Check-In

We stayed here because it was the only campground with availability but we were pleasantly surprised. Beware of friendlier than normal coyotes and NO cell service. The store up the road has wifi, showers, and laundry which is great. We biked around the area (to the hot springs and the border crossing) and it was HOT. Definitely the hottest area of the park (hit 96 and 98 each day we were there over Christmas), which was about 20° hotter than it was in Chisos Basin. Bathrooms were kept really nice and friendly neighbors.

A lot bigger and less privacy than cottonwood campground, plus generator noise. Still not a bad place to spend an evening or two on this side of the park.

Of all 3 campgrounds in the park, this was my least favorite. It is the largest and least private. Most of the campground is wide open, unless you get one of the back loops, which are wooded. It's a tradeoff between views and a bit of privacy. It worked fine for one night and the nature trail is worth exploring. The showers at the store are still $2 for 5 minutes. Water was lukewarm, but not terrible.

Nice campground with clean, basic amenities. Showers are currently closed due to covid. Lots of nice trails and things to do nearby. Reservations can be made through recreation.gov.

As said, clean, the showers are closed for Covid. and it online booking only at reaction.gov

As of January 2020, these spots are $16. No cell signal but there’s WiFi at the store/shower/laundry/gas station ($2.89/gallon). Plumbed bathrooms and water spigots at the campsites. Shower is $2/5 minutes and there’s no bell to warn you the 5 minutes is up, I set a timer on my phone.

14$ per night, plus the 30$ fee to enter the park. If you don't have enough change to put in the self-registration enveloppe, you can pay by credit card at the visitor center. There's a generator free zone, see map. Cold showers! On my way back I saw a coyote on the road, it was not nervous at all, probably used to get food from humans. Please do not feed wildlife...

Hello
It's a good place to sleep near the Rio Grande.
Take care if you have a rv bigger than 24" you can't go to the Chisos campground.
We pay 15$ for dry site.
You have a dump station and drinking water.
Enjoy the coyotes who sing all night long...!!!
