Description

public park past the rodeo fairgrounds. no signs prohibiting overnight parking and the park hours are removed (scratched off) from the main sign. old-school playground, old baseball diamond and small stage with bleacher seats. we pulled around the stage and parked our 4runner + rooftop tent at the back of the lot. no private properties immediately close by. stayed 10pm-8am no problem. train came by at sunrise, but no other noises and we weren't bothered. beautiful stars at night.

As someone stated below, there are dumbasses that ruin this type of thing for everyone. Currently, it is a couple staying in an rv, with a trailer behind it, on on their third day and counting camping there. Their rig is and has been parked alongside, and blocking, the entire length of the picnic area. Not nice when local people can't use their own park's picnic area for the entire weekend and now in to the week. There are several Rv parks in the area, and none are full this weekend. Very poor form.

Came here about 9pm and the gate is closed. Guess some dumbass messed it up for the rest us.

On our way to Big Bend. We parked our truck camper beside the amphitheater and it was lovely and a very large parking area. No one bothered us, we were the only ones here. It’s very quiet here. No posted sign for no overnight parking or park hours although there is a gate at the driveway.

As described. Great stop in Marfa.

No lights at the baseball field which made for a dark and peaceful stay.

Excellent place for the night. On my
to Big Bend. Here at sunset,in my Ford transit van...the only one here. Found a flush bathroom ! It's up near the main ball park.

SO grateful to whoever found this place. Between here and White Sands NP in New Mexico there aren’t very many wild camping options, so it’s been a lot of parking lots and rest stops. This spot was a welcome change.

Arrived here around 9:30/10pm, stayed until 10am and wasn’t bothered. At least 6 trains went by between 10pm and 1am, but other than that its blissfully quiet out here. Parks department showed up around 8:45am to do some work, but didn’t say anything.

Coming in at night is a little confusing, the entire park seems like one big dirt parking lot. If you head straight back from the road, you’ll find the small stage the previous reviewer mentioned.

This is a great spot, just keep it clean and a little bit stealthy.
