Something not right?

Description

closed to vehicular traffic May - October.

Probably doable for a class C or smaller. We drove all the way to the shooting range in our 39 ft RV. Lots of shooters today and seemed like the road was gonna get worse so we did a 3 point and turned around.

No cell signal. Verizon and T-Mobile

Closure is only during fire season, open in fall, winter and spring!
Amazing flowers right now, super private if you 4x4 up the first right onto the hill. Super views. Good cell signal.

open until April! shooters during the weekend. quiet at night and weekdays. beautiful scenery if you don't mind the shell casings on the ground. owning a gun does not exempt you from leaving no trace!

Just received a visit from Ranger: this location is closed to vehicular traffic May - October. They are running late this year closing gate. I must leave immediately.

Large open area here. Amazing views and plenty of area. The road in was rough. If coming from Griswold, you 100% need an off-road vehicle. If coming from i5, you will encounter some rough/very soft spots. If it is wet, good luck. We arrived on a weekend so it was packed with lots of shooters. I was able to fill 2 trash bags of garbage just walking around cleaning up. Most of it was targets or shell casings. I would say due to the recent rain, this place is 10/10 beautiful and serene.

Quiet and out of the way. The road getting there was like washboard, but everything else was good. Driving a 28’ C Class.

Report Check-In

Gate was closed but there is a flat spot to park in front of entrance. Short walk to clean pit toilet. Quiet night only saw farm workers in the am.

Report Check-In

No one was there when I arrived late (9pm). Woke up to a couple cars in the area but it wasn’t cramped. People mostly use it for shooting. Decently clean pit toilet. No scenery whatsoever — I would only stop again for a convenient & safe place to sleep close to i5.

Very convenient spot if you're heading up or down I5. We went up the hill, I strongly recommend going up the hill of you can. 2wd Vanagon. We hiked up the hill further and there are some amazing spots up there away from all the shooting. The road does get more challenging the further you go up.

Report Check-In

Expended brass and shot shells all over the place. We didn’t stay because there was so much broken glass that we didn’t want to let the dog out of our Van. Pretty disappointing. Used by those who don’t care what they leave behind.

nice spot if traveling i5. do expect shell casings and trash. some target shooting going on nearby but not a big deal.
