Remote estancia in beautiful mountainous, glaciated scenery. At least three long day hikes (moderate difficulty) can be done as well as horse riding. Camping basic, clean hot showers, shelter with wood stove. Pesos 6000.- p.P. Access with good 4WD only from Lago Brown Road (turn off at -47.44066 -72.40591) 300 mts before you get to the estancia you have to ford fast flowing Rio Tranquilo which is best done with a good 4WD.

Highly recommended. Lucy and Luis have created a very homey place despite the remoteness. Lucy met us at the gate and made us feel like old family friends from then on. Warm showers, nice Refugio with wood cook stove, and nice flat grassy spots for tents in the trees with ample wind protection. Many small features that make it downright magical, from interesting woodwork and use of gnarled branches to the “cisnes plasticos” swimming through the irrigation ditch. One decent river to ford by vehicle with a mildly sketchy footbridge for those on cycles or foot. Beautiful views, trails, very clean, and an attentive host - just a few reasons to make the “dificil pero no imposible” trip to Fundo de San Lorenzo.
Report Check-InBeautiful place to stay! Fundo San Lorenzo is at the base of the mountain of the same name. Already the way to the place is gorgeous, driving through wild Patagonian land (4WD mandatory!). Lucy and Luis are very friendly, they have a lot to tell and books with recommendations. There are hot showers and a community room with kitchen and stove. Camping is 10.000 Pesos ppn, if you stay in the refugio (Base camp Agostini) which is a 3 hours hike, it's 6.000 ppn. Horseback riding is also available. I can only recommend this beautiful unique place! Stay some nights and enjoy the beauty 😍
Report Check-InFantastic place off the beaten track - we cycled up here from Cochrane for a few days away from the crowds on the Careterra Austral. Can totally recommend taking the time to visit. Lucy and Luis are great hosts, and the Refugio is in an incredible location. Stay a couple of nights at least!
Report Check-Inwonderful place, lucy and Luis are super friendly. hot shower for us!
Report Check-InVery beautiful scenery. Not for 2WD, in my opinion. Nice warm shelter where you can cook and stay warm and dry. Unfortunately no warm shower for me: pipes broke last winter, they told me. If cycling/hiking you can avoid the river crossing by riding/walking 1Km loop and crossing a scary wooden bridge...
Report Check-InBest experience of our trip. Lovely people, beautiful place, great facilities for camping.
Its 60km tough cycle to get here so take lots of food and stay a while. The hikes and horseriding is amazing!
