Report Check-In

Spectacular place arriving in Luanda. The owners, Julieta and Luis, are incredible people, friendly and willing to solve anything you need. I really recommend it 100%

Report Check-In

Enough info below. This is a must stay. Absolutely fantastic. Don’t miss out and help support the like minded owner who supports all of us. 👍

Report Check-In

Based on the reviews I came to this place with high expectations, but my expectations were still exceeded. Nice room, wifi, laundry service, internet charge for phone, amazing food, workshop, pool, many animals, and most importantly: extremely high level of hospitality and helpfulness by Louis and Juliette. Everything here is very obviously well thought out to cater to overlanders, at good prices. Come here if you are in Luanda!

Report Check-In

Don’t miss to stopp here!
We only stayed for one night, but we got lots of information about Angola from Luis.
Great food too, Juliett is a marvelous cook!

Report Check-In

Absolute oasis for travellers, regardless of mode of transport. We were 2 guys travelling by motorbikes and we stayed in the single tents for a week. No need to go into further details about this place, its a gem for travellers. We also serviced our motorbikes here.

Luis and Juliet are great hosts. I arrived very exhausted, stayed for a few days. They did their best to bring me back to full energy.
Thank You!

Report Check-In

The previous reviews explain it really well but it is such a special place that I couldn't resist doing my own review. We have felt at home. Both Luis and Juliette are wonderful and have helped us with everything. Without a doubt, it is where we have felt most comfortable since we left Barcelona, 8 months before.

Report Check-In

I arrived at this place with malaria (from DRC) and I have to say that it was the best place to have it ! Juliet and Luiz are the really lovely owners of the place. Juliet took care of me like my mum also all the team was really friendly. I enjoyed à lot the place around the swiming pool, with really confortable sofas and a lot of flowers. It was a perfect place to rest. Also the facilities are really good : really clean and good bathrooms, laundry service, swimming pool, bar and food, différents places that you can use to eat, work or rest. Luiz knows a lot about overlanding in Angola and can help you and advice about your trip. It's also a good place to meet others overlanders. There are différents supermarkets around so easy to shop before leaving Luanda. You can drive or take taxi to go in Luanda it's really easy. Thanks a lot Julieta and Luiz and all the team, hope to meet you again !

Report Check-In

I stayed at Kakuakos Lodge on the recommendations of previous overlanders and the good reviews.

Reaching this place is fantastic especially if you are coming from the north and haven’t seen a campsite in months. It is a welcoming oasis. The owners Luis and Julieta are keen overlanders themselves and have built this place specifically for overlanders. It’s got a lovely pool and a couple of bars and relaxing areas and has a well stocked overlander shop which is an Aladdin’s Cave full of useful items. The food is great and it’s a very friendly and secure environment and I met up with several overlanders whilst staying there.

I had to go back to the UK for a couple of weeks and they looked after my camper truck and my dog Daisy who had the time of her life 🙂

Luis has an extensive network of contacts throughout Angola and helped me find mechanics and parts and is a fountain of useful knowledge and can help with trip planning and roads etc.
Highly recommended

Report Check-In

The best place in West Coast Africa ! It is like an oasis of peace and tranquility. Luis and Juliet do everything possible to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Report Check-In

Everything is said before. We were invited for a family party, always good to learn about different cultures. Hospitality without limits!

Report Check-In

What a great place! Luis and Julliete are lovely people and they are very welcoming. There are a lot of facilities available. Most things are said before. I want to add that there is free WiFi (the reception is okay for Angolese standards).
Beside that, Unitel reception is very reasonable.

Report Check-In

Luís & Julieta are definitely super hosts!! Super friendly and very helpful.
The very best part is that Kakuakos it's more than a place to rest, they can help with your car, or basically with anything you need.

A dream for overlanders!

Report Check-In

Luis and Juliet are truly wonderful hosts, and their lodge is a haven for travelers. From the moment I arrived, I felt like a valued guest. The cozy atmosphere and their genuine kindness made my stay truly memorable. Without a doubt, Luis and Juliet Lodge is the perfect place for every traveler visiting Luanda.

Report Check-In

As other visitors have already reported this is an excellent place to stay with many services, good location close to shopping areas, Luis and Julieta are wonderful hosts, the food is delicious and not expensive, there is plenty of space even for our big truck, good environment , very clean pool, we came to stay one day and ended up spending 3 days.

Report Check-In

Luis and Julieta are very friendly. They had a good net of contacts so they will find any solution for any problem. I felt like home!

Report Check-In

Luis and his wife are really, really nice & helpful, it’s all perfectly clean, but to be honest the place is pretty noisy (only 50m next to highway) and hence this is a dog breeder, too, there are many dogs who naturally bark a lot, also during the night. The plot is big, but lots of buildings on it, hence it is confined space. Also, it’s sad to see so many animals being caged.

Report Check-In

We had a great stay here. We had to go back home for 2 weeks and could leave our car here without any issues. Luis was super helpful with everything! Even got some things welded at his workshop.

Report Check-In

i arrived after a long drive and the first thing Luis did was take a beer to me.
i have been there 2 times, amazing place, clean, and wonderfoul service.
i could speek some spanish with Luis.
he is a overlander too so he understand very well what we need.
actualy he make some contacts to help me with some mechanical issues.
if you are in Luanda this is the place to be.

Report Check-In

We had a great stay at Luis's place. It's a good place to relax in the lounge, enjoy the animals, the garden, the pool, play ping-pong, drink something at the bar or eat. There is a repair shop and so much more. Just like a little village.
The price if you stay in a room with AC is 10EUR (due to inflation, it's in EUR at the moment) per person including all the facilities. If you stay in the glamping tent(with fridge and bed) it's 5EUR per person. No wifi. It 's a lovely place you will like it. Or you sleep in your car.
Luis is such a very nice, helpful and relaxed person, we haven't met Juliet yet as she was on holiday.

Report Check-In

The Kakuako Lodge is a fantastic place to stop, mainly because of Luis and Juliet who are wonderful. Juliet opened the door with a warm welcome, and prepared delicious food. Luis was able to give me valuable information about the country and its recent history. Both of them made me feel very welcome.

There are many animals (ostrich, crocodile...) that have been rescued here, as well as a pool. Its an ideal place to hang out for a few days. Only trouble is unitel signal is weak, but then again thats the case for the entire country.

Highly recommend!

Report Check-In

We loved our stay at Luis & Julieta! They made us feel right at home, Juliette's food is very tasty!! And Louis is a wealth of knowledge on Angola and beyond. We camped in our RTT, felt very safe and well looked after.

Report Check-In

Luis and Julieta are awesome hosts! If you have a Nissan Patrol that's the place to be! Luis has been Overlanding for more than 40 years & he's an active member of many Overlanding communities in Angola. We had some troubles with our patrol and Luis stepped out with his network. Thanks to him, we had everything fixed in no time! We stayed in one of the containers for 20€, it has a/c with a confortable mattress and private toilets. Everything was clean! They have a laundry service on premises, a bar, a pool, cold clean showers, a gym and a barber shop!!! The location is very good, we were about 2 km from ShopRite. I recommend you ordering a nice grilled fish from Julieta, one the best dinners we've had on this trip!

This is definitely a place to be when overlanding Angola 👍👍👍

A place not to be missed !
Luis and Julieta are the best host in Angola. We spent our time here with very happy and safety.
The facilities are cleaned. It’s the best place to stay after the long road.

Hands down the most hospitable owners (Luis and Juliette) we’ve met in Angola and possibly on our 10 month trip of Africa so far! Sadly, Luis was in Europe when we visited but he was still incredibly helpful over WhatsApp. Juliette is absolutely lovely and cooked us a wonderful meal after we arrived tired and late. We were having trouble with our landrover and Luis was full of awesome tips and gave us the contact details of Alexander a mechanic in Southern Luanda. He messaged him on our behalf and the next day we were fixed up, Alexander was an awesome recommendation from Luis. Good facilities at camp, female and male shower and toilet block, clean with towels and toiletries. Fully equipped kitchen too. Luis also helped us with our invitation / accommodation letter for our visa requirements. Highly recommend a visit here 😀

Report Check-In

great place to stay as described. unfortunately Luis wasn't around buthelped a lot on WhatsApp, and Julietta looked after us really well, even helping us when the police wanted to arrest us for not having driving licence with us! Luis helped us get the evisa by sending us letters of invitation, absolutely essential. he really does know what travellers want. sadly we were there alone, there would be a great vibe with a group for sure. cold beer on tap!

Report Check-In

Since we entered África through Morocco until we arrive here in Angola, this is the only real campsite truly built thinking about Overlanders and their basic needs, here we have everything we need at low prices for Angola reality.
It is in fact not only the best campsite in Angola, but also the best campsite in all West Africa that we have seen so far.

Report Check-In

Fantastic campsite, with loads of facilities (workshop, barbers, laundry, clean pool, gym). Very tasty home cooked meals. Kind and warm hosts. Great base for Luanda as a city campsite.

Can stay in rooftent, in a cabin or in tents provided by the site.

P.s. they even have an ostrich.

Report Check-In

Really well thought out place, and super welcoming to overlanders. We took a room for the night to enjoy some good rest and AC, but sadly there are at least 15 dogs and as many roosters on the site so even with earplugs we were up most of the night. Once the dogs stopped barking, the roosters started. AC worked well, but the wifi in our room didn't. Good wifi at the pool area. Excellent apéro snacks (olives, nuts, chorizo) and our chicken dinner was the best we'd had since leaving Europe. Cheap beer on tap, great showers, laundry service done by the next morning. We paid 15k for the room, 5k for a load of laundry washed, dried, folded, and 7k for our chicken dinner for two. If it weren't for the noise we would have stayed longer, really a nice place.

Very nice place to stay for a few days and relax! Wifi, Pool, good food. Juliette cooks amazing, also vegetarian/vegan and the fruits and veggies all grow in their garden. Everyone here is super friendly and the place is beautiful and very clean. Lots of place for all kinds of vehicles. We could do oil change here. Luis is a full blood Overlander and has a lot of precious tips about Angola. He has a great network as well. In case you need help somewhere else in Angola, Luis probably knows someone there to help you out. He had a well equipped Overlander shop. His neighbour produces delicious fry fruit and chillies!

Report Check-In

One of the best campsites we have been to. Owner Luis and Wife Juliette treat you like family. They have top notch facilities, you name it the lodge has it: gated secure compound for parking, ac rooms( you can hire a tent or use your own RTT/ tent if you like) good shower/ toilet facilities, washing machine/ dryer, swimming pool, shop with overlanding supplies and gadgets, nice bar, even a gym and salon for hair cuts and such if you are in need. Himself a keen overlander, Luis is always ready to help and even arranged his trusted mechanic to do some vehicle repairs for us. Juliette is a great cook and they use local produce, much of it from their own farm. We really enjoyed our time here. Highly recommended.

Seriously the best "official campground" in all Angola. Like the previous people commented Luis and his Wife are super friendly and after a few days there it already feels like home. They go above and beyond to make you comfortable and try to get you the best help possible. There is also a Garage with a pit and tools so its possible to do some repairs here. Im pretty sure Luis would help you when you have questions.
Go there to refuel. You won't regret it.

Superfriendly owner Luiz, himself a real african overlander with well prepared off road vehicles. He mades his best to get you comfortable. Availabilty of rooms with A/C and also a small area to camp in your camper vehicle. 5000 kw. 11 euro. Electricity, swimming pool, shower and toilet. Fruits of their own garden. Extremely helpful staff. A real paradise on busy Luanda. Pay attention while in front of the campsite gate, only market with a legend "PASTORES D'AFRICA"
