This is a now a $5/night per vehicle, non-reservable official campground that is part of the Nicolet National forest system. Only amenity is an open-air box toilet. There is no host and check-in/fee payment is at Bear Paw Lake boat landing, north of this site. The road in is a little rough in spots, but with care any high-clearance can make it, including larger types.
The campground consists of two very large sites, each site could host several vehicles (up to six each if tightly packed). Both sites have a fire pit.
The north site has several very tall pines around a very nice fire-ring but overall the site is fairly open. It also has a foot path to the lake's edge. Fishing is possible but the dense shoreline makes casting difficult. Small craft launching should be possible.
The south site has more trees which would make parking multiple vehicles a little more tricky. The fire-pit is less developed. It is further from the lake and has no footpath access. Like the other site, it has a trail into the woods for toilet use.
The area is mostly pine, much of it fallen from storm damage but still has a nice tree canopy. Plenty of firewood can be collected, bring a good saw!
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
There is a 5$ nightly vehicle fee. Site is nice. There are two spots, both very close to each other, and the small lake/pond. Would be good for a group of people!
