Description

On public land, can drive right up to water’s edge if you like. Freeway behind but not a bother if you’re far enough away which is definitely possible. Toilet in parking lot. Wasn’t crowded in January with about 3 other RVs/trailers. 2-3 bars LTE w US Cellular. Can get windy!!

Bureau of Land management campground just off the road. Pretty spacious for the location and it being a free place to camp for 14 day stretches. No shade so great for solar harvesting. There were two other vans here and we all kept to ourselves. Nice view of the water. Toilet is pretty clean. No water. No dumps. No trashcans. Little windy but otherwise mild.
Have 3 bars of 4G LTE with Verizon. Could not pick up any television channels with the antenna.

quiet except for the road noise, great spot!

Wonderful spot! We didn't spot any bighorn sheep but did see a tarantula and some lizards. Spent two nights here and had a campfire. Great verizon service. Highly recommended!

Perfect spot for a night or two....or three!!! I was driving from LV to Tahoe & got a flat somewhere near Beaty, getting it fixed set me back an hour & I was exhausted by the time I got to Hawthorn so I decided to stay at Walker Lake. There are serval pullouts, public land spots and established campsites along the lake to choose from. This spot was a bit beat up but it’s free. You can get closer to the water but I didn’t because the sand was starting to look a bit soft. There were three other RVs with me but we had plenty of space. Make sure you have snacks and beverages so you can relax and enjoy the view. Oh also there was some road noise and I’m not sure how the pit toilet looked.....probably gross.

Very spread out, not many people. Here on Memorial Day weekend and there is 3 other people camping here. Pit toilet is clean, minor highway noise but nothing unbearable. No shade, some fire rings made of rock. Would recommend to the camper that doesn’t want to be around a ton of people/ tow behind houses.

Edit: about 20 min after posting this a crazy storm came out of nowhere. 40-50mph gusts, thunder and lightning. Went from gorgeous to terrible in a matter of 2 min. We ended up packing up and staying in Hawthorne.

Lots of spots. Stayed in the middle of highway and water where the ground was pretty solid still. There was only 2 other people as far as I could see. Pit toilet looked like someone was living in there. Att signal wasn’t the greatest.

great spot for the night or so hang out for a day or two. Lots of space for the dog to roam. pit toilet too. tons of flat spots. minimal highway noise, can be windy.

Pretty solid spot, except I got a flat tire while leaving so be careful of nails/other sharp objects.

A cool place to stay overnight or for a few days. There are lots of places to stay along the lake, so you dont have to pick the first pull off. We had a 36 ft tt with a f250 superduty and we still got a little bit stuck. You can drive up to the beach but it doesn't mean you should. The beach looks safe to drive on (or walk) but you will sink down, so its very misleading. Stay up top, mid way from the beach and the road and you will be fine. There is little road noise with a warm wind. This is a salt lake with no water outlet, so you shouldn't go in it. The area was pretty clean and they had pit toilets. We got Verizon pretty good, but we just watched tv for a bit. We would stay here again.

One of the most beautiful spots I have ever seen. Literally a desert oasis, a massive lake right in the middle of the desert. Saw one of the best sunrises I’ve ever seen in my life. Can’t believe this is free. Public toilet but don’t know if it’s unlocked or not.

Continue on the main highway just a hair until you see “two thousand miles beach,” open spots as far as I can see. As stated elsewhere, the sand gets a little trickier the closer you get to the shore, just stick to the main gravel and dirt roads and you’ll be fine. Don’t need 4x4 all unless you wanna get right up on the coast. Roads are smooth, a slightly hilly but not to worry.

Can get extremely windy. The gnats are also a slight problem but worth it for this spectacular view.

Trash isn’t so bad, few scattered pieces here and there but nothing too crazy. Please don’t ruin this absolutely breathtaking spot with garbage.

Great spot right off the highway w/ multiple flat, packed spots. Be careful depending on your off road readiness some of the sand is very loose. We parked near a bathroom and it was closed w/ heroin needles spread about. We didn't have any issues.

Beautiful sunsets and rises! Thanks for the find. 🙏🏻✌🏼

Convenient spot right off the highway with lots of flatspace to park. Not too noisy but can get close to the water with it being so low. Good star view, beautiful sunrise.

Nice spot. Some sketchy locals roll through now & then but good spot with room for big rigs. If you continue a little more south there is another spot with more people. Picnic tables & shelters, boat ramp etc.

This place is amazing! Absolutely beautiful views snd the sunrise was stunning! Good enough Verizon coverage I could stream Xbox on my jetpack. Def worth staying if it’s on the way.
