the ONLY free parking between Port Aransas and Padre island is south of mile marker 100 on the beach. You can camp north of that mile marker but you must have a $12 beach permit and your only allowed to stay 6 days a month, no more than 3 consecutive in one place. I just don’t want to see anyone get in trouble for camping north of mile marker 100 without a permit. 4X4 recommended.

Had a glorious stay here right on the beach! It was amazing and so beautiful to sleep to the sound of the waves and get out and play in the ocean during the day. Really so gorgeous! I stayed here for a total of seven nights and at times was the only person on the beach in the area I was parked at. So very private and quiet and just so lovely. I really didn't want to leave! Further down the beach my internet service was a bit spotty and non-existent at times. When I was very close to the road 6 access, internet was great on T-Mobile hotspot. Amazing to be on the beach and have internet access. Did I mention that I really didn't want to leave there? What more could a person want! I purchased the pass, but not once did anybody stop by to see if I actually had it. This is not to say that you shouldn't purchase a pass, it's more to say that it was just so nice to not be questioned. Also, there are showers in The Visitor Center area that are coin operated and cold, but they were very refreshing nonetheless. It was nice to have the option available. Highly recommended!
Edited to add that I did see big rigs camping on the beach, they just needed to stay where it was more compact. I was a little concerned about loose sand as I certainly didn't want to get stuck anywhere, but I really didn't have any problem and other people didn't seem to be either. Of course you will need to stay on the harder sand and be careful. But there were others doing it if that is any help at all to you.
Report Check-Incamping allowed south of access riad 6 as mentioned. nice breeze. love the waves crashing.
Report Check-InNueces county allows free camping south of Beach rd 6 or north of Beach rd 3.
Report Check-InWe are here with a 44' 5th wheel. We have a 4WD Ram 5500.
Once you learn how and where to drive on the sand its not too bad. Wet sand is good. The more dry it is the fluffier it is and the easier to get stuck. Drive near the water where the sand is dark and you'll be ok. When you get into the dry light colored sand you will need 4WD.
We verified the 3 day then move and 6 days in a month. A beach patrol stopped by and let us know they were documenting our location and plate numbers. You need a beach parking pass which is available at the Padre Balli Park office. They are open till 10:30pm most days so not hard to get in there.
Cell service is very good here with Verizon.
Report Check-InMuch more secluded version of the Port Aransas beach (see north on the map). The Port A / Corpus Christi / Nueces County beach parking pass ($12 at local stores) covers this beach. Check out the photo I added with the Nueces County beach parking map
Report Check-InThere was a notice that a permit is required to drive on both sides of the entrance to the beach. We didn’t know where/how to obtain a permit and didn’t want a ticket. So we left.
Just a warning to others.
