Description

Off of West Rim Rd/CB-115. Turn east (towards canyon) under the power lines. A few dirt roads shoot off from there, several spots along the rim with fire rings. Great view of the Rio Grande canyon and the Sangre de Cristo mountains to the east.

Great spot to camp. Could stay here for two weeks if you wanted. Drove in with our Motorhome, and it was dicey to say the least. We have 29ft body on a ford eco online chassis and we were able to navigate the ruts. Parked in the flat spot just a little past where the road splits off to the right. Go right that road is less rutted out. Wouldn't recommend going further than this spot if you have an RV.

Report Check-In

Road is rutted with lots of rough terrain. We got through with a 2500 truck and 26ft trailer, however, it was rough. High clearance definitely needed based on current road conditions. Beautiful view of the gorge once we made it to the rim.

Honestly I wouldn't recommend this spot if you don't have high clearance and 4×4. We took our 2WD Promaster to a spot south of the marker and barely made it. Hit a rock on our drive out that punctured our gas tank and had to get towed. Other than that the spot is the MOST beautiful place I think we've ever parked up.

Report Check-In

We were south of this marker, we turned off the main road right under power lines. A fork comes up and we went right instead of left.
Beautiful views

Beautiful spot. We were initially skeptical if we should go down the rutted road with our big rig (42ft fifth wheel), but had no issues.

Beautiful spot! Arrived very late after 10:30pm and awoke to canyon and mountain views. It’s so quiet here and I slept like a baby after a couple noisier parking lot nights. 10/10 recommend!

Stunning views of the mountains north of here. pretty cold in November, not crowded just me and another couple in a van a campsite away. easy to drive the road in. Google maps screwed up the directions on the turn, it right after the power lines. also you don't have to camp anywhere near them. I did move further down the road. a local couple rolled into my camp around 9am almost hitting me then parked at the entrance. they then proceeded to dump 5 unleashed dogs out of their truck who ran all over the place peeing and pooping. very uncool of them to do this. I move about a mile down the road and found another site which wouldn't allow for bad mannors.

Nice stay. Off the beaten path but I didn’t have any trouble in my 2 wheel drive van. I’d just make sure there isn’t any rain on the forecast. Go to the end the road and there’s a site right at the canyon

Beautiful spots with stunning views. Dirt roads under the power lines were no problem

Beautiful spot! Road is a little rough, but my 24ft RV had no issues. Caution though if it had rained a lot. Wouldn’t have risked it. There are two spots right past the power lines, but I would suggest going further.

Report Check-In

Stunnign views. Road not as rough as it looks, at least in summer when it was wet/middy was still manageable with a 4x4 pickup towong a 27 foot trailer

Report Check-In

As per the previous post, go under the power lines to start. Its the rainy season and was pretty muddy when I went through, had to just power through with my 2wd van. If it was dry it would be more than manageable.
Found a slightly less muddy trail south of the GPS spot. At least 3 fire rings around here.
3 bars Verizon.
Tons of flies attracted to the mud I kicked up.
Killer views to the east and south.
No trash except a busted snowboard and somebodies toilet paper that the wind had carried.

Report Check-In

Weird dirt road to get back here. We took the middle dirt road once they split off. Almost got stuck in the mud so be careful if it rained. Stopped a little before the coordinates and stayed 1 night. Saw no one else around the whole time. Quiet and secluded

Edit: if we keep going all the way down the dirt road, there’s a few spots with fire pits on gravel. Large spots right on the edge.
