Description

It's a beautiful spot during the day, and I can only imagine how pretty the night sky is. it's incredibly quiet, very peaceful. During the daytime, there are definitely a few boats passing by, or in front of the parking lot fishing. there's a large grassy area next to the parking lot which would be perfect for a tent. It can get a little windy, so I can imagine it might be a bit cold at night, even during the summer. After a good night's sleep or if you just need a peaceful day trip, you can do some fishing on the cemented pathway.... or just watch the big expensive boats pass by.
Official personnel does pass by in boats as well - Coast guard? Water police?

Once you make a left turn for that final mile, it is all gravel, but it's not bad. Going slow, my old grrl, made the the one mile without any problems. There's definitely room for a couple of big rigs up to you maybe 35 ft. Possibly bigger if you are really good at making tight u-turns. there's plenty of room for camper vans/ Sprinters / large class B's.

Seems very quite and a wonderful breeze. Hoping for no door knocks. This site is also on freecampsites.net. So far, so good. No knocks. Two others came in during the night. I felt safe. Spent three nights altogether. Wonderful, thank you Army Corp. of Engineers!

Wonderful spot. Very quiet. Shared with one van. There is plenty of space.

Report Check-In

as described better spot is on the hill to the right before you get to the main parking lot

Great place for a one nighter. Quiet except for the crazy, wild coyote party in the night. Please be stealth, do not cook outside, play loud music, and do a whole outdoor set-up. There are official vehicles going through and coast guard boats on the canal, a lot of fisherman, and visitors. Nice sky and views. Not a spot for big rigs. For you tenters, there are some discreet spots off the road before you come to the public parking lot where you can set up in the grass pullouts. As a 20 year tentster, I ask you not to set up in the public lot. Everyone thanks you.

Nice spot along the Chanel between Sturgeon Bay and Lake Michigan. We spent a quite night here. Easy access for all vehicles.

Report Check-In

perfect for the afternoon and the night in our car. a very small and worn-out sign says it's army property but no one told us anything even though several boats that seemed official passed by and saw us. a few young guys came to fish for a few hours until nighttime. very quiet at night, a bit windy. it's on a preservation natural area

Report Check-In

Nice fields with power lines. Easy access for 2wd. Some traffic but not bad. Well taken care of

Located on the Sturgeon Bay and Lake Michigan Ship Canal west shore of Lake Michigan about 52 miles northeast of Green Bay and about 128 miles north of Milwaukee. Long gravel road and gravel parking lot located on the canal. Minimal lighting. Fisherman in the area at dust and dawn. Small grassy area. Surrounded by trees.
