Description

This is a few miles in on a well maintained gravel road off HWY 17. There are multiple spots to camp, with rustic fire rings where others have been. Some spots have a lot of privacy, other spots will have UTV’s and Jeeps passing by to get to trails

AWFUL! This is an uncontrolled shooting range! Automatic weapons, rifles, bazookas, anything.... it was the scariest place I've been. Our poor dog was traumatized. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE ANY FORM OF PTSD. Also Garbage EVERYWHERE..... avoid at all costs

Beautiful spot with beautiful views. There are lots of other people here but also lots of places to park with decent privacy. The cacti and foliage are beautiful and low enough to use Starlink. Would definitely stay here again. The reviews about incessant gun range noise are super accurate.

Report Check-In

in the eyes of wilderness camping, this could be a beautiful area. instead it's completely trashed, everywhere that looked good to sleep was either destroyed with litter or had people target shooting home appliances. also good to not it has huge power towers all through it..

Report Check-In

Beautiful views but a LOT of gunfire throughout the day from all the target shooting. It got to be a bit much so we moved on after a couple days.

Not far off I-17, but road is very washboarded. OHV’s running around the main road, but several places to camp far away from that.
Lots, and lots, and lots of trash. I filled up an entire kitchen trash bag just around my camp.
The shooters and “weekenders” don’t seem to care about leaving everything and anything here as trash. Coolers, vehicle air filters, cans, bottles, coolers, etc. Help nature out and pick some of their pig trash up while you are here.
Gun shots going off all day and night. And I mean after midnight. Just be camped a distance from them and you should be ok.
My neighbors ran their generator all night long. Common courtesy doesn’t seem to be present around here.
My two closest neighbors did go out daily to pick up trash. Kudos to them.
Beautiful sunsets. Coyotes at night. My neighbor said she saw a pack run by next to here trailer one night. Always be alert and armed, for safety.
Maybe not a vacation paradise, but a nice place to stay for free up to 14 days on this BLM land.

Absolutely gorgeous area! The only things that bothered me were peoplethat visited leaving garbage! I got here in a Friday morning and it's been nonstop gunshots for 3 days, from 7am through dark! locals riding around on sandals was continuous! As usual, people ruin what can be such a beautiful area to relax and unwind with peace and quiet! well paved road coming in. I'm in a van and had really no issues. I would Not recommend coming in the rain or right after a rainstorm, as I almost got stuck in like 6 inches of mud in a spot!

Absolutely trashed and overcrowded. Nonstop shooting and atv’s. Ok for a night of you really need it but wouldn’t suggest.

An alright spot, lots of litter and noise pollution from people shooting. Here on a weekend and it’s non stop all day, occasional explosions from tannerite targets as well. I’m in a pretty remote portion and there are still a good bit of people driving by. If the gunfire doesn’t bother you it’s not a bad spot close to town. Seemed to be some other full timers parked out here as well closer to the entrance.
I get 4 bars and LTE (Verizon) plays Spotify and videos slowly.

So so pretty but like everyone mentioned, so full of trash. I made it there fine in a 2WD van, just had to drive slow. I pulled into a spot when the road started to get super bad but it was still past most of the campers. There are def people living there but I’m a solo female traveler and felt very safe here. Will definitely come back!!

It’s a good spot close to the city to stop for a few days. If you like dispersed camping, being off-grid, and having privacy, then it’s probably not for you.

Pros: well maintained road, decent amount of spots for any size vehicle/rig, good cell service on Verizon. Not too busy during the week.

Cons: extremely crowded once the weekend rolls around. Hundreds of people camping, shooting guns, driving UTVs and ATVs, riding horses all day. Lots of trash - expect shells casings, targets, clay pigeons to be littered all over the ground in some areas. Apparently people like shooting guns, but not picking up after themselves. I even found some needles at my camp site - not sure if it’s drugs or insulin… Clearly some areas where people live here full time.

From reading other reviews around Phoenix, this seems to be the norm so I guess I can’t complain too much, but you have to wonder how long until they start closing places like this off with all the litter and land destruction.

we went on the pther side of the road, a few nice places and very quite, no road noises, some fire pits, do not go if its raining

Despite the place being crammed in between 5 undeveloped but official shooting ranges, Table Mesa is quite nice. There large open areas for all sized rigs. Yes, it sounds lime you're in a war zone- automatic weapons and Tannerite explosions from 5AM till 2AM- the place is still quite nice. Anthem is only 10 miles away with a Walmart and more.

We love this location for the good service and being 20 min from town. However, there are definitely people who seem to live in some spots and gunshots are heard day and night. The weekend warriors were the worst tho.

Report Check-In

This place is almost 10/10. So many spaces with vegetation in between for privacy from the other people here. Flat spots and fairly clean from litter. The best service I’ve ever had at a campsite anywhere in the country. The ONLY issue is the gun shots all day long. They seemed to stop once the sun went all the way down. It was tolerable for us but our dog wasn’t happy.

Great 4g and 5g internet, dirt road’s graded, large spots for motor homes , store’s near by. REAL NICE PLACE

Great spot. Been here two days. Gun Fire all day and night long.

Report Check-In

I love this place I always try to camp here twice a month

Report Check-In

Parked just pasted the main group of rvs and saw three different skunks. My dog ended up trying to chase one and paid the consequences. Also noted seeing western diamond backs nestled against the shrubs, an abundance of snakes here if you walk off trail. Barrage of gunshots can be heard nearly constantly during daylight hours from multiple locations nearby. Took a walk down to the river for a soak but the river was dry. This place can be heaven or hell depending when you come.

Green boondocking for up to 14 days on this BLM land. Tons of places to set up camp just about 1 1/2-2 1/2 miles from I-17. It is a pretty bumpy ride, but I make it fine in my 24’ Class C RV, while towing my car on a tow dolly.
There is cattle out sometimes, but always wild burros. Coyotes can be heard at night.
Only 30 miles north of Phoenix, and about 15 miles north of Anthem (where there is a Walmart and other stores).
Night sky’s are filled up with stars. Trash is everywhere, which is sad.
There are a variety of places to target practice with your firearm, so you will hear gunshots all day and into the evening. ATV’s and dirt bikes to zip around occasionally, but most are respectful.
Be aware of the hot temperatures. Even in October, it is in the high 80’s to 90’s. Now in April, it’s getting into the 80’s and a few 90’s.

So great! Stopped here for one night. Keep going back! There is a ton of trash when you start driving in. Follow the coordinates and you’ll get to a section with camping spots. It’s beautiful!

Report Check-In

love it here its very beautiful amazing view but sad thing is people do not clean up after them selfs.

Report Check-In

Good flat spot away from the busy camping area. Rough road, good AT tires and high clearance vehicle preferred. Many more private spots further down the road can be found.

Report Check-In

there were loads of spots to choose from even with several RVs and vans parked. We had to drive on a long dirt road but it wasn't too bad for our NV 2500 Nissan van. The further down after the main parking area, after the trailhead, the rougher the roads. if gunshots and loud booms are not your thing then this is not the area for you. We were able to tune it out but some of it sounded very close, where we actually saw one of the booms, and could hear what sounded like bullets whizzing by (which we like to think was an echo). The area is beautiful and has wonderful sunsets. You do pass a lot of trash on your way in, which is sad, but the camping areas are not too full of trash. do your part pack in pack out! nice campground area can hear target shooting in the distance and off road vehicles. i believe i hear wild burros too. nice campground feel to this place. no amenities.

Report Check-In

this is all Arizona trust land. I went ahead and purchased a pass for $15 online.

update: I was in a designated camping area for about 2 hours. seems like there's a group of people who permanently live there. one of the guys came and said hi to me and reassured me he was harmless. I decided to leave after a car pulled up and started casing the exterior of one of the RVs. it seemed like a fine area to camp but it was a little too isolating for a solo traveler.
