The road from the gate via Sossusvlei will lead you to Deadvlei. Last 4 km are only accesible with 4x4.. Here you can park to go and visit Deadvlei.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The last 4 km are very easy. Flat terrain and sand not that deep. Adjust your tires pressure. We did it with a very heavy Hilux camper in 2WD and had zero problems, just a lot of fun. We drove on the side of the piste to avoid the crazy "spring bumps". Absolutly nothing to be worried about.
Report Check-In2x4 parking obligatory so shuttle at 180pp or hitchhiking ;-)
but if you have a 4x4, deflate the tyres and follow one shuttle not to be stucked in the deep sand (some tracks are not easy to find alone and we show some tourists unfortunately stucked with their 4x4 :-( )
I'm not sure what the post by "Jan" below means. You dont need to stop here. if you have a 4x4, drop the pressure to 1bar and keep going. Better yet do it before leaving your camp so you dont need to wait here.
Report Check-InWith a truck it is not allowed to drive the last few km. There is a shuttle Service, 180 p. P.
