Description

Found it hard to leave. Initially they asked $10/head, but agreed to $5. Parking in the small unfrequented parking lot at the top of the property. At the time of our stay it was cool and breezy, a welcome respite from the Nicaraguan heat. The property is right on the shores of Lake Apoyo (great soft warm water), with facilities and a good affordable restaurant. We did not use electricity but it can be made available (fee?). Big rigs might be able to fit and can always land just outside the gates in what seems like a very safe area. Water truck comes on Monday.

This place is cool. My girlfriend enjoyed it while I was sick and mostly in the van recovering. They charge $8 USD/pp per night for overlanders. ($8 is the typical day fee) Can use the kayaks (not SUP boards), swim, hang out all around the property. Mix of hostel vibe and local families taking a trip. Sundays are packed.

Lots of cigarette smokers everywhere the three days we were there. Pretty overwhelming. Music is usually loud and bad, but occasionally towards the end of the day it mellows out to something chill. The wifi doesn’t reach the parking and it’s pretty inconsistent in general.

While the lake is beautiful, this spot is tricky for overlanders. The spot with electricity is a tiny spot where all the motorcycles park, where they do construction work, and where all the food is brought in. Unfortunately, this is the only level-ish spot available. We felt like we were in everybody’s way the entire time.

The other parking inside the gate is on a steep incline. The guard didn’t want us parking on the gravel outside the gate. It was nice and level but where all the cars drive through.

Worth $8/night if you want to be social and swim at a cool spot.

Report Check-In

They have a safe parking space for motorcycles.
Dorms are.around 10-12 USD, private room with shared bathroom was 18 USD.
They don't offer free drinking water- best bring your own because water is quite expensive.
When you sleep here you also can use the beach, wifi, kayaks etc for free also breakfast is included.
Meals are between 7 - 15 USD.

Nearby you also can go freediving or scuba diving. For scuba diving look for Volcano Divers Nicaragua or The Naturalism School Nicaragua!

Report Check-In

we parked a couple of nights in this hostel, it has a big parking lot next to it, although we parked in the small parking lot but we were alone so it was ok, they gave us an electrical connection next to our van, we paid $7 pp/night, and you can use all its facilities and its kayaks, you can ask for free tea and coffee, there is wifi but very slow ...

Report Check-In

Great beach club right on the lake. We paid $7 pp for day use and RV camped in their parking lot. Initially they asked for an additional $8 overnight parking fee but did not request at the end as we paid for day use. We ended spending 2 days.

Report Check-In

Grand spot for the night, we tried the free camping spot, but it was busy with locals, and there wasn't any room to park up. we then asked the George's holiday home place, he asked for 250 for the night so we continued on to paradiso hostel. They have parking for our transit. They charge 7usd, you have access to all facilities in the hostel (showers, toilets, restaurant, bar, beach, free kayaks, etc). Friendly staff and food was decent. They also have electricity points and water👌

Report Check-In

8$ per person per night.
Fancy hotel where you can park your van (prepare your elevation because it’s not flat at all).
Text them before you’re coming to be sure you can park.
They have clean toilet and cold shower. The wifi is very bad for the price.
The lake is very nice, you can use for free some kayak. The food is pricey but taste good.

Report Check-In

Wonderful place! Nice to swim in the lake or just relax. They have a small place for a Van that is level. And a big carpark which is not so levelled.
8$ pppn without breakfast (10$ pppn with breakfast)

Report Check-In

Still $8/pp. we stayed here for three nights while I did a 3 day Freediving class next door. Excellent facilities and a good spot to park my van. Busy during the day but gets very quiet at night the lake is stunning. Very recommended.

Report Check-In

Beautiful camping spot, well worth 8USD pp/per night. Great facilities and great vibe.

Report Check-In

Beautiful setting. We parked at the top of the stairs, where the workers park their motos during the day. It was not hot, but it is very rainy this time of year and that brought out the bugs. One night at dusk, we had swarming termites. They managed to get inside even with our screens closed. And then the little black ants have very vicious bites, and they seemed to be all around where we parked even though we couldn’t really see them. Not sure these things are at all unique to Paradiso, I just think it comes with the time of year. $8/person may seem steep at first, but you have access to the beautiful lake for swimming and kayaking, and there are a lot of covered sitting areas to relax or work during the day. We enjoyed the food at the restaurant. I wouldn’t say it’s cheap, but I think it was fair value. I wanted to stay a third night, but the ants drove us out this time.

Report Check-In

While we actually planned to stay at the beach parking lot further down the street, we drove past this gem. Pricing still as advertised below. Access to clean bathrooms, good restaurant, free kayaks and beach with beach chairs and inner tubes. We liked it a lot and stayed three nights. Lots of day guests but in the evening you have the place almost to yourself. Parking is not shaded and get pretty hot but is secured with locked gate after 10PM. Super friendly staff!

Report Check-In

A bit pricey (8$ pp) but a very nice spot at the lake. Some days there is a bus load of backpackers that come from Grenada to make use of this place for the day. After 4 it's only guests but there is space enough anyway. Two places to park; at the parking or near the cabins inside the gate. we stayed in the last spot and could plug in.

Report Check-In

Stayed two nights during the week in their parking lot in our truck camper. Thoroughly enjoyed swimming, the breezes, morning coffee, wifi and great common areas to hang out listening to birds and monkeys. Paid $8 pppn. Recommend if you can get it. Text on WhatsApp ahead of time to confirm.

Report Check-In

Stayed three nights, payed 8US per person per night. No kitchen for public use, cold showers.
The place was really nice in general. Beautiful views, great to swim in the lagoon, pool and ping pong, kayaking, all at no extra charge.
The restaurant isn't too expensive either!

Report Check-In

Buen lugar para pasar 2 o 3 noches pague $8 usd con electricidad incluida, wifi y uso de las instalaciones
Comida y bebida extremada mente caro.

Report Check-In

We came early in the week and told them we would like to stay until Monday (8$/p/n). Because weekends are busy and the parking lot is needed for better paying hotel guests, a camper arriving on Friday had to leave on Saturday again. Good food, good place to relax or swim.

Report Check-In

stayed 5 days here, quite a nice spot. still 10/night to park, parking is a bit un-level will need blocks or levelers. no height restriction (we did use the electricity one day as it's a little shady, worked fine but will need an extension cord) but, there is a sink to wash dishes, multiple common areas available, 4 bathrooms (2 w/showers, plus 2 outdoor showers down by changing area) available, free coffee, great lake access with tons of chairs available, WIFI, decent food in restaurant (no kitchen available) and tons of activities. dog friendly. nice and easy.

Report Check-In

This is the place to be. The parking spot is a bit dusty and not levelled but ok. Very quiet, mornings with the sound of bird and howler monkeys. Nice to see the squirrels hopping from branch to branch. Cool breeze and don’t forget to dip into the lake. We did our laundry and it was clean and smelled very good. Our account was ok when checking out and we paid 5 dollars per person. Electricity was ok. Please go here, you will like the vibe!

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay a few nights. It’s a huge hostel with many young people from all around the world. You can camping , rent a dorm or a private room . Camping is still 5$ pp.
You can use bathrooms , very nice showers , water , fast WiFi but not kitchen. Also you can use kayaks for free . Really nice place with good vibes.
When you check in you will get “an account “ and everything you eat or drink they will put in your account. You pay when you check out.
Everything was ok in my account.

Report Check-In

We paid $5USD pp. Electric was very sketchy. We didn’t use it. As described a few
Freebies. Laundry $1 per pound. Restaurant not bad. Pretty place. Very dog friendly. Sweet resident pup named Lassie. Upon departure clerk wanted to charge us $8 pp. Please be sure to get the name of person quoting your price upon arrival.

Report Check-In

Nice place, we parked right inside the main gate (other parking lot was packed). Nice bathroom and shower, nice beach with a good bar/restaurant on site. WiFi worked fine for us in the complex itself but not much inside the van. Good place to stay in the area, would recommend

Report Check-In

Stayed 3 nights. Paid $5USD per person each night. We camped in their less-used parking lot. Clean toilets and showers. Breakfasts ranged $3-5, lunch and dinner ranged $5-8. Nice bar with pool table with amazing views of the lake. We woke up at 4:40 one morning to watch the sunrise and kayak (free), and that was incredible. Friendly and attentive staff. The WiFi kinda sucked and was very inconsistent; on the bright side, we got to disconnect a bit and enjoy nature. We did their free bird watching tour and absolutely loved it. The water was perfect and lots of time spent there relaxing. Free coffee in the mornings and drinking water throughout the day. One of the nights, they paired everyone up into groups to play a music game and it was a great way to break the ice and meet people. Definitely an awesome place, be prepared to end up staying longer than you anticipate. Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

A really beautiful and awesome
place. It feels like a home community, the way it was build, the bar and restaurant is super cheap like not more than 8$ a plate, from breakfast to diner. They have pizza making in the weekend. The view is just amazing to work but the wifi is not constant and super fast, but we had to make our way around it just because the place is so nice. The parking is not super leveled but you can make your own with the rocks by the side. super quiet and clean. You have access at the kayaks down at the beach, with life jackets. It wavy but fun and safe ! friendly staff !

Report Check-In

Great hostel with great amenities. They asked for 5 usd pp. parked our big ford transit in the parking area and slept there. Good spot!!

Report Check-In

They tried to charge us 8$ pp but finally agreed for 5
One of the most beautifull place we have been!!
It s really beautifull and super quiet at night
You can park your car in the parking, not really flat but it s really worth it

Report Check-In

Super chill hostel with all the bells and whistles. Lots of other choices around lake but this one worked well for us. 3G service. WiFi only next to reception
Free welcome drink at 6pm.
Food is ok and lots of young travelers and day visitors from Grenada.
10$ /night for 2ppl and 2 dogs in truck camper with power. Strong enough for AC. No real place to clean dishes but were able to fill up tanks before leaving
Stayed 5 nights to get work done on terrace and enjoyed swimming and fishing in lake

Report Check-In

had the most wonderful and relaxing stay here. all info is still accurate, paid 5usd per person per night. van was secure inside their gate, access to WiFi, showers, electricity, water, tea, coffee, free drink each night, ping pong, billiard table, beach access, kayaks, tubes, hammocks, great rest spots, stunning views. their food is decently priced, very varied and very tasty with good vegetarian options. staff were very friendly and helpful and guests were sociable but not party crazy which was lovely. thoroughly loved our two nights here and would definitely recommend!

Report Check-In

Great place to hang out for a few days! Camping is just on a dirt lot but flat and with electricity. The location is just great! 5$ / ppn! Wifi, showers, a lot of nice places to hang out, free use of Kajaks, Billard, Boccia, Ping Pong, Boardgames and a lot more.

Report Check-In

Aaaaa what a relaxing place!

The “camping” part is just a small parking lot, is true. But the common areas and the lake... what a place!

We paid US$ 5 pppn. The lady said it is 8 on high season. The price includes using kayak and a amazing lake 😜

The place has energy, poor wifi (when connected is ok, but sometimes is hard to connect), clean bathroom, free coffee. There is a restaurant with lots of options. Try Cheese Tostones please!! It’s delicious.

I don’t think big rigs fit here. We have a Defender with a rooftop tent.

We loved this place. The sky is amazing at night!

Report Check-In

We really enjoyed this place. Camped in their parking lot with the howler monkeys, floates in inner tubes on the beautiful lake, played pool and ping pong. Good internet, clean toilets and showers, and we were able to plug in with an extension cord. Food in the restaurant was good too.

Report Check-In

Good place to stay and relax in front of the lake.

We paid 8 dollars for a dorm, wich was extremely clean.

Private rooms is about 35/45 dollars

The food is quite good but depends on what you would prefer to go around if you want something cheap.

It is available to use the kayaks, safe jackets and other staff, they also provide free coffee.

Report Check-In

Arrived on a Sunday afternoon. Parking area full of cars. One RTT. Walked to gate and heard radio say “tell them we are full”. Guard said- we are closed at this moment. We drove away.

Report Check-In

5 dollars pp per night after negotiation! We loved the place, other overlanders on the small parking lot at the entrance of the property. Very clean bathroom and showers. The restaurant has great food. The place is pretty peacefull in the morning and then becomes more touristy during the day (people from Grenada come for the day). The hostel organized salsa night one evening and game night another. Younger but fun crowd, and the parking is far away enough that we were never disturb by the music etc. Very pretty lake, a little windy so never too warm. Great spot. Stayed 12 days !!!

Report Check-In

We did not like this place. It was loud and crowded with bad wifi. It's a party hostel and the parking area was not private at all.

Report Check-In

They asked us for 12$ per person first and sad we need to park outside. After talking to reception it was 8$ per person. And suddenly threre was space for parking inside. There was a lot of noise from working sites.

We didn't feel welcome and left although it looks nice

Report Check-In

noisy in the evening and the early morning. workers walking around our cars all day. expensive with 8 dollar/person
very nice swim beach and good restaurant

Report Check-In

Beautiful place to spend a couple of days right next to Granada. We paid 5$ per person, even though they asked 8$ first. Electricity with an extension cord for no extra fee. Decent toilets, shower and wifi.

Report Check-In

Parked in an informal lot ($10 for two people); quiet, shady and they ran a line for electricity from us. There is a restaurant, wifi, pool table, ping pong, paddle boards and kayaks...

Report Check-In

We stayed here 2 nights. Beautiful property ON the lake. Nice swimming, leisure atmosphere. Lots of backpackers/young crowd, but tranquillo!

They have opened up a side parking area for overlanders . We fit 3 big rigs and a van. Tight fit, but it works. Food is excellent and great prices. Plenty if bathrooms and showers. Electric with an extension cord. Still $8/ person.

Report Check-In

The camping site is a muddy place. Nothing special. The property itself is very nice. There are plenty of chill-out areas in the garden and at the beach. Coffee and water for free the whole day. Showers and restrooms are clean. Food is good from the restaurant. Is is a big hostel and welcomes also lot of guests for the day. So at the beach (nice!) it can be really crowded.

Report Check-In

They've expanded considerable. Still a charming spot. They have more parking, so it can accommodate more than a couple of cars. Big rigs still won't fit.

Report Check-In

Nice place overall. Dogs welcome. The actual car camping is a small dirt lot. Just enough room for two normal sized rigs. Not a big rig spot. Lots of people walking by all the time, but also lots of Monkeys cruising by above. Nice trade off! We paid $16 usd per night. That's pretty pricy, but the free kayak rentals and free coffee or tea all day long helps swallow the price. We used this as a jump off point for the Volcan Masaya night/lava tour. We drove back once we were done. We just told them what we were doing and they held the spots for us. After the volcano thing we came back and had dinner. The food tasted good, but once again PRICY! The views from the restaurant are nice. To use the wifi you have to be in the restaurant.

Report Check-In

The place is really beautiful but its nothing but a tiny uneven parking lot that barely fits 2 cars with lot of compromise and having you neighbour at your front door. They recently change the price to 8 Usd pp. Totally a Gringo destination. Avoid by all means the weekends. The place is packed.

Report Check-In

hostel/resort. very beautiful and the lake access is great for relaxing and swimming. restaurant and bar. good wifi. great facilities. worth every penny, we paid 8usd pp . worth it though !

Report Check-In

I love this place!! Not a lot of room for parking but enough for 2-4 vehicles. $8pp/night includes the use of kayaks, coffee and tea all day, great wifi and really nice restrooms. We ate at the cafe by the water and had amazing hamburgers. Quiet at night.

Report Check-In

We got charged 5$ per person to stay there. The parking is tight but we made it in with our truck camper. They now have electricity right at the parking lot. Great place to unwind.

Report Check-In

Small, extremely small lot for campers. There is a net overhead so need to be under 12'. And it took a lot of maneuvering to get in through gate. Not sure how we'll back out backwards up the hill. And we're only 6.5m long. Maybe could hold three vans - not more.

Wifi doesn't reach lot and is only available in restaurant.

Staff did hunt down long, long extension cord since under trees and limited sunlight will filter through to our solar panels.

Loud generator noise next to lot.

That said, beautiful lakeside setting with many water sports available.

Report Check-In

verry, verry nice place to be.
there is a small parking but for my rig (5m) it was big enough.
if you park well you can also see the lake
us $8 pp

Report Check-In

we loved this spot, you camp up the top of the hotel and it's a bit of a walk down to the lake but it's beautiful! the hotel allows you to fill up with water, use electricity and use their facilities. as others said it has free coffee and free kayaks - totally makes the steep price worth it! the food is surprisingly good with lots of options from all over the world- the curry was delicious! we would definitely camp here again.. the gate is a bit of a squeeze but we did it with a 20ft long rv which is 11ft tall with no problems just some manoeuvring! bathrooms were close and nice too.

Report Check-In

Very nice place with direct access to the Lagua de Apoyo. Nice to have a little swim and you also can take a kajak for free. They also have food and drinks on the menu. Coffee and Tee is for free. The Wi-Fi worked really good and we could also plug in with our car. As we went through a really muddy street earlier that day we asked if we can use the hose to wash down the car and it was no problem. The bathroom was a little bit small but clean. We paid 8$ per person per night.

Report Check-In

Beautiful hostel offering great activities. Very full so not really my taste but it was nice to relax for several days. 10$ dorm Free parking inside

Report Check-In

Stayed one night in our tent in the vehicle parking area. Flat ground and quiet as its away from the restaurant and dorms. Very beautiful and affordable food, but not super well set up if you are tenting. We wish we stayed further down the lake, but still had an amazing time! Paid $8 per person.

Report Check-In

Wonderful place to relax at the lake. Camping is on the parking lot within the gate. It takes some careful manoeuvring to get the van through the gate and parked at the right angle. There is a height restriction, because of nets hung between the trees to catch mangos (we were fine at 3.1 m/10.2 f). They open a tab for you (you get a card to show), so you can order food, drinks and activities. Food is not special, cocktails good and cheap (happy hour 4-7). Good internet, use of kayaks for free. US$ 8 per person with electricity and wifi. Although the hostel is quite busy (also with day guests from Granada), bathrooms and showers are kept clean.

Report Check-In

great hostel, parking area can be busy, we were 4 small vans and then it was full, $16/night for two people, free coffe, free kayak

Report Check-In

Really nice place to stay a couple of days. Swimming in the clear lake is so great!!!! We love this place

Report Check-In

$10 per person to camp in car at top of the lot. Beautiful property. Price includes use of beach chairs, kayaks, wifi, bath & showers. We plugged into an outlet at no extra charge. Restaurant with cheap food & drinks. Quiet, relaxing stay with lake access for swimming.

Report Check-In

Fantastic spot! Feels like a resort. Well worth the $10pp for a time to recharge.

Report Check-In

Expensive parking lot. $ 20.00 per night for two, but seems like other things will balance it out as all activities are free, even canoeing on the lake.

Report Check-In

very nice property on lake. nice bathroom with really good shower (a lot of water) parking lot is small. only three cars fit. its possible to stay outside on the parking lot which is not guarded and the hotel gate is closed during the night. dogs are allowed. kayak rental, Ping pong, volleyball, billard, included in camping fee (10usd pP). electricity. water is available 10m long hose needed. pizza from wood stove on weekends. food is reasonable and very good (try the premium beef steak!) we arrived in the night but still had to pay usd 8per person/night. instead of 10. we stayed a week and had 3 power cut and they turned on the generator which was loud and stinky. unfortunately the beach is little and you cant go for walks.

Report Check-In

$10 per head but a good steak for $10 and a reasonable choice of wine. very clean also dose laundry.

Report Check-In

$10 a night per person, seems steep but when you consider the facilities it works itself out, Kayak rental is included in that price as is electricity, clean bathroom and access to the beautiful lake. Food in the restaurant is excellent. We also used the the shuttle service to visit Granada for the afternoon.

Report Check-In

Could not bargain down from $10/head and tried to find a better spot but this is the best place to stay and worth the price.

Report Check-In

no tent camping allowed. they didnt want to let us camp since we are in a 4runner and not a camper. charge $10 per night per person. same as dorm fee. beautiful view and lots of activities included in fee.

Stayed here for a week in April 2014 and loved it so much we had to come back a second time in July! Parking area has a net to catch falling mangoes now, new hangout area with chairs and hammocks by camping spot, new roof on Rancho, TV room and pizza cafe, and a redesigned lakefront hangout area are just some if the improvements in the last 3 months with more to come. Still has amazing affordable food, friendly owners, free fast wifi, free coffee all day and, of course, the view and location are great. 8usd/person/night, includes electric hookup.
